Product Description

She thought her heart was mended...

Angela is celebrating a successful heist, when the last person in the world she wanted to see waltzes back into her life.

Four years ago, Jamal ripped her heart out and tossed it on the ground. But he's back, beefed up from prison and wanting to make amends for dumping her.

He's still the same dominant man she'd fallen in love with, but with a calmer head on his shoulders. He promises to protect her from her bad decisions and wild past, and with the mob indebted to him over his time, she believes him.

When he offers her the chance to manage his strip club and answer to nobody but him, the temptation is more than she can ignore. But can they get over all of the secrets and lies they've told one another while avoiding being sucked back into a life of crime? Or is the temptation of fast money, and illegal highs, too much for them?

Note: Some Russian speaking characters are written with an intact accent. These are not typos, but a representation of their accent.

This started off really slow for me and I really didn't connect with either of the characters until about half way through the book (it was only short).

The storyline definitely had potential, I just didn't feel the main heroine (Angie) and I felt absolutely nothing for the hero, Jamal. I think I would have liked to get inside his head even a little to get an idea about how he was feeling, because for a man who had JUST been released from prison (that day) after four years I wanted to feel the angst he was dealing with. He was just cool, calm and collected, like he was feeling nothing too (like me).

The sex scene between the two gave some insight into that but not enough for me. I wanted to FEEL the need for connection that they should have been experiencing (especially Jamal) before the event rather that how much he wanted to make sure she was OK.

This just felt a little lacking for me but perhaps the next parts of the series will develop on this in more depth. I definitely wanted more.

Cliffhanger? Yes. Will I read on? No.
