Based on the TV series Nancy Drew, the most-watched new show on the CW!
In this prequel novel, the beloved teen sleuth investigates a sinister, once-dormant curse that may be threatening her town once more. This is Nancy Drew for today, perfect for fans of Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and Stranger Things!
A curse is just a mystery dressed up in a sharp, stern warning.
And everyone knows that I lovea mystery.
Nancy Drew isn’t one for ghost stories. So when the annual Horseshoe Bay Naming Day celebration is threatened by eerie warnings of an old curse, Nancy is sure someone—someone human—is behind them. And no way is she letting this person stand in the way of her best friend, Daisy, finally getting her day in the spotlight as the lead in the much-anticipated Naming Day reenactment.
But as Nancy begins investigating, the so-called marks of the curse become bolder…and more sinister. A vandalized locker and ominous notes are one thing, but soon enough lives—including Nancy’s own—are at stake. Though the dreams and eerie visions plaguing Nancy are certainly just products of her own mind…right?
All old towns have their traditions and histories, but as Nancy will soon discover, they don’t always tell the whole story.

I liked reading about Nancys life before what we see on the show but I was really expecting more of a story and this felt a bit flat.

A new Nancy Drew writer is not the same writer as before
Reviewed in Canada on 18 May 2020Verified Purchase
I didn't like the new characters in the book, the writer changed her home town name, as to what I had always read, River heights being the home town. I find some of the people confusing, situations too. In my opinion, even though it is a new writer, Characters and place, friends and cousins should remain the same.

Amazing story

Really enjoyed this novel and it felt true to the TV show. I assume that the 3 new characters, Nancy’s friends, are the same people who are in the flashback scene in the first episode in the graveyard. The storyline was thrilling, spooky, and mysterious. I highly recommend this book to any fans of mystery and suspense. I hope this author writes more of these books!!!!

If you like the show then this is for you

A lot of purists will not enjoy this story or the show. For people who like the show, this is just more exposition and enjoyment. The writing is on par with the show. The world building of Horseshoe Bay is just right. I hope there are more tie in novels for the show. Nancy Drew has a place in modern media and this is just more icing on my cake.

Cheap tie-in the the CW show
Reviewed in the United States on 6 December 2021Verified Purchase
Characters do not resemble or are recognizable to the book characters of 90 years.
Basically is a tie-in to the drama filled, supernatural CW show entitled Nancy Drew. The name "Nancy Drew" is the only resemblance to the 90 year old book character. A true disappointment.
