With the impending opening of the New York Film Festival, the elite force will be on full alert due to the biggest names in show businesses dropping into town for the event. We meet the star of the book, Mr Zach Jordan - Detective First Grade. The reader learns the man's history, and that of his work partner. Within a handful of chapters the reader is bound to like the guy. He is cool, he is smooth. He is honest, and he respects everyone he meets. Especially women.
The book is full of wonderfully drawn characters and their interaction is controlled perfectly. The tension ebbs and flows like the currents in a mighty river. Throughout the book, you will be shocked, surprised, scared, possibly even overcome with emotion. You will laugh, you may cry. You will feel immensely satisfied and completely immersed in the reading experience.
Most importantly, however, you will be delighted that you have read this book. Almost full marks from me; I cant wait to read more volumes of is exciting series.

And that's it: short, sharp, but lightweight, formulaic, cliched, and above all completely forgettable [the Memsahib read this a few years ago when we were in NYC and can't remember a single thing about it] and that's why in many ways it's perfect, actually too perfect, pulp fiction, and that's also why it's only three stars.
PS What is it about James Patterson that so many of his books are co-writes? Who actually does what? This book didn't need two people to write, it could have been written by a machine.
Not much new here. Elite squad, check. A deranged serial murderer that gets bigger and better, check. Love interest in and out of aforementioned elite squad, check. Mayor giving hassle to catch the bad man, check. Police supervisor causing problems, check.
You do get the feeling you've read a hundred fairly similar stories. But if the subject matter pleases you, take heart that it's written by Mr Patterson, so it's more than readable and keeps your interest. To summarise, it's a good book of it's type, so you won't go far wrong.
I JUMPED into this book and boy am I glad I did. It has all the temptations to bring a gal back to her own way of loving a book. Has all the sex, gory details and the bang of the attention to the chase.
Zach and Kylie have a history together and then they get thrown together as partners in this great heist of a book. Who is the Chameleon and what has Lexi got to do with it? Read what they get up to in this terrific thriller of a novel.
From the 1st chapter to the last you were drawn in to the lives of the characters. The police, the would be victims, and the psycho path and the woman that would follow him to the end of the earth. I enjoy how he twisted a love story, a simple love story (nothing sappy), and suspense, on the part of the work of the detectives & the bad guy. You knew he was going to do something else , but what? You knew the detectives would catch him but how?
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did
