Not the best resource for the recreational solo backpackerReviewed in the United States on 12 July 2018
If I could I'd give it 3.5 stars. It's not a bad book, but it's focused heavily on what NOLS does and wasn't as useful to me as a recreational backpacker/camper. A lot of the book is them detailing their system for storing, transporting, and using ingredients on expedition-length events, not how to efficiently cook for a weekend trip with a group. Some of the recipes inspired me to try new things while backpacking, which was what I bought it for.
