Alfhild takes herself off to London to meet with Silvan, a warlock who can help to train her in offensive magic. Unfortunately, he’s dark magic and refuses to help her at first. But he changes his mind and returns to the Whittle Inn with her. Alf doesn’t realise how much hard work the training will be but she is determined to
find George. She and her whacky crew look for anything that can help them and she already has Penelope Quigwell, with her team, working on finding out who is behind the Mori. She also finds technical help with a purloined computer from the ghost of a computer expert. As usual there’s a lot of quirky fun in with all the serious stuff. Good series!

Love the new character Silvan look forward to more of him in the next book. Poor Alf doesn’t appear to have great luck with her love life or running her inn. Lots of action and mystery, look forward to the next book.

Yet another supernaturally good read in the Wonky Inn series. This time it's the modern issue of chemical poisoning Alf and her crew have to wrestle with . The battle between Alf and her enemies hots up as the health and wellbeing of all life in Whittlecombe is endangered by the dark masters of nastiness.
As ever there are some light hearted moments, Finbarr's pixies are a delight as is Gwyn who shows her great granddaughter Alf that ghosts can have fun too.
Highly recommended.

Spoiler alert!
Wow - this fifth novel in the series was a resounding and fitting resolution to many of the seemingly insurmountable ills that plagued Alf and all she loves throughout the series thus far. I also really enjoyed that #5 affirmed that Alf has claimed her own hard-won power.
I’m certain upcoming #6 will stir the waters again - let’s hope only metaphorically!
