I’ve seen books of this series so much lately so I knew I needed to dive into this headfirst ASAP.
.
And I wasn’t disappointed. The first book had me on the edge of my seat by the end and I almost threw my phone till I remembered I had the arc for this and dived straight in. This book definitely didn’t hold anything back! The emotional ride was definitely worth it and my favourite part, and yes it was my favourite despite having my emotions go through the ringer.
.
The two characters could not be more opposite if they tried and I loved watching them come together, bond and have this undeniable and unbreakable bond. The romance is swoon worthy and I loved it. The work they put in to get there was well worth the journey and I am no doubt a huge fan of both characters!
.
Both or even all characters were written well and had amazing character development. There was so much that went into them that you truly felt connected to the characters. Rylee is queen in my opinion and reminded me so much of myself when it comes to her family and her protective nature. I loved it. The world build is great. There’s so much detail and definition, there is a clear image when reading and doesn’t leave you guessing. It was so vibrant and tangible it made the experience of reading so much fuller.
.
To say I ended the book shook is an understatement. It took me a beat to put my thoughts together for this review but I finally managed it even though in my head I still have ‘wtf’ on repeat. I love when plot twists come from left field! I don’t mind when a story has a little predictability to it but the excitement of the out of this world plot twists really does it for me. I never would have seen that coming and I both loved and hated it but I’m thinking I loved it more.
.
This was an incredible read and I cannot wait to see what this author has next!

My Wicked Heart is the second book in the Wicked Poison duet by T.L. Smith and follows book one, My Beautiful Poison. This is an angst filled romance with drama, grief and second chances.
In this story, August is in despair and grief after the death of his younger sister. He has always lived a rough life, doing shady things in order to survive. The only thing that has brought any meaning and joy into his life was his sister and Rylee, but now that his sister is gone, he believes that Rylee is truly better without all the darkness that surrounds him. So doing what ge thinks is best, he leaves town and cuts all ties with Rylee.
Rylee is devestated that August has left without a word, left without giving their relationship a try. Knowing that he won't be back, is the push she needs to move on with her life and forget him. The only problem is that she can't help but compare every guy she dates to August.
After 5 years, August is back in town where they bump into each other at a coffee shop. Rylee notices the wedding band on his ring finger and August notices the little girl by her side. A little girl who looks eerily similar to him.
So how long is August in town for? What happens when he learns that the little girl is actually his daughter? Will these two get a second chance at love or is it over now that he is a married man?
This story was good and while it did have a lot more angst and heartbreak, I much preferred book one over this. In saying that, T.L. Smith is still a great author and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

After reading the first book in the series my Beautiful Poison I have been anxiously waiting for the second book My Wicked Heart.
This book blew me away everything I wished for happened but ! A huge BUT where family is concerned .
I was absolutely absorbed before I knew it I had finished..
Rylee has matured into a magnificent women she is her own person thoroughly independent.
August — the bad boy, whose past was not all of his making, there are always choices to make wether we make the right one’s we have to suffer the consequences..
The storyline flowed its so easy to be connected with the main characters.
There is much to read in this book so much the characters learn about themselves and others.
An excellent book that continues the journey of Rylee and August.
Is there passion between them still or not!
This is a spellbinding read I wish I could more stars ..

My Wicked Heart is book two in the Wicked Poison Duet by TL Smith. I tried to ready myself for this book, but sadly I still felt the impact and nursed the broken heart as I reached the end. It was like losing something precious when I read the last word. Nothing was the same for a while. Moving on to a new book didn't have the same appeal as what I had just read. My Wicked Heart was everything. Everything and more. I loved book one, but book two just exceeded all my past, present and future expectations. Overloaded emotions was my state from beginning to end. The frustratingly prolonged anxiety and tension between our main characters was intense and mesmirising. I could not get enough. My tears were many and my sheer exhilaration endless. August and Rylee were meant to be, and I wasn't having it any other way. They broke my heart with their stubborness. The mended it by giving me the precious gift of their love story. 5 stars

Well BEEP. TL Smith just ripped my heart right out of my chest and squeezed the life out of it! What a book! I thought I knew how this book was going to go but as always I come to find out the this author has twists up her sleeve that I never see coming at all. I was not expecting what happened to happen. God how my heart ached! The angst was tearing me up, waiting to see what would happen. I was on the edge of my seat. But as always this author knows how to put my heart back together after all the turmoil it's put through. GAH I just love this conclusion to August and Rylee's duet!
I need more! I am hanging out for what's next and have my predictions in place for it. But as we know my predictions will be nothing compared to what will happen. I just absolutely love this author's writing and story telling.

Seasons Change But Love Remains

The conclusion to this second chance romance was unexpected, because it was better than I even hoped! The author will tear you apart before she pieces your heart back together. The angst was so real as I watched Rylee face his return. The man who walked away was back just as she was finally trying to move on.
A love that could never be severed, or so she thought. When he left and she couldn’t find him, she never thought she would see him again. It’s been five years but she’s never stopped loving him. She’s trying to move on without him.
August left town when his life got torn apart. It was his only way to survive. Losing his sister wrecked him. He was spiraling and knew if he didn’t leave, he would end up back in prison. He moved on with his life because he never thought he would see Rylee again.
August is back in town for a quick trip, but when he runs into Rylee his plans all change. He thought she was his past, but now all he sees is a future with her.
There should be an angst warning on this one!!! I loved it. I felt Rylee’s pain in loving August, but wanting to keep him at arms length. He had some secrets, both new and old that he needed to share. Rylee would need to accept his past if she wanted a future. Their love was strong even when they were apart. Their attraction was just as intense, but it became more. A mutual respect and love developed because of their shared past, making for a great start to their HEA.

What a conclusion!

Wow wow wow!! I read this book in almost one sitting. Actually it was over night but still I could not put it down. I was so excited to read the 2nd book. Now with reading this book I went in with a spotty memory of book 1 and how August and Rylee meet and how they felt for each other. It starts off after book 1. Now as the book went on really good until it starts with five year gap. I mean I understand why it was a twist I never saw coming but damn. Small worlds ( I feel like Mary followed him at least that is what I like to think). But thank goodness he still loved Rylee! Now stupid Anderson. He totally got what he deserved. For me this was such an awesome conclusion. Can’t wait to see what else This Awesome author has in store with her future books! Def a one click author for me.
Definitely a great read!
Read the duet you will not be disappointed.

Outstanding read!!

August and Rylee’s story is so emotional, heartbreaking and loving. Rylee was heartbroken when August left and she was drowning in a pit of sorrow. August couldn’t deal with the loss of his sister and the things he’d done and made the decision he thought was best for Rylee, but he was so wrong. When you love so deep and hard for that one person who is it for you and they break you, it’s hard to let them back in to pick up the pieces, but how can you move on from the love of your life? This series has gripped me by the heart strings and I can’t wait for more.
