~Mischa~

I made a conscious decision to cheat on my husband.

Now, before you judge me, hear my story. Hear how much I'm like you, how similar my thoughts are to your own. Yes, I'm a horrible person. Yes, I've done horrible things. Yes, I don't deserve forgiveness. Yes, bad things happened because of my actions.

But I'm willing to bet I've done things that maybe, just maybe, you have thought of doing.

Maybe, just maybe, you're not as innocent as you'd like to think.

Or maybe I'm not so guilty ...

What can I say? I was a little reluctant to read this book - not because of the subject matter but because I MUST have a HEA and I wasn't sure I was going to get it. However I read a review and decided to buy and I am very happy I did. Not sure why books with infidelity are widely criticised - it happens in real life and I don't see why it should be shunned by the wider reading audience. Anyway, I was thoroughly impressed with the storyline and the writing of this book - it kept me hooked all the way through. I also liked the commitments of the author - I appreciate an author focused on the audience and hope the mission statement could be adopted by a few more authors. (Note - I have about 10 books waiting for sequels more than a year later!!!) I recommend this book - it has all the essential elements - lust, sex, angst, love, drama, HEA - and some cheating! The abundant self flagellation by the 'heroine' may have been slight overkill but a good read nonetheless!

This blew me away, so I devoured it. I started reading it in bed, the next thing I knew it was 4.30am. Firstly I hate cheaters & yes there are consequences. So know this going in.

There are many tales of friends to lovers, usually more like second chance stories however this is totally different. He was your first chance. You can love your friend but not be 'in love' with them. So Mischa takes you on her journey of discovery in this regard.

Don't think she wasn't remorseful, it's dealt with many times. The finality of it was a major loss for her however believe it or not the ones who condemned her also discovered something for themselves. It's so well written that you feel part of it. Something I love so I couldn't put this down. I don't want to give away the plot as you have to feel it for yourself. There are some twists & turns adding some intrigue as well.

It's not a simple tale, people are hurt but they recover slowly. As for the affair it's that soulmate kind of thing but how to act on it is another story. Tal, the mystery man, wow wow wow! I'm not saying anything more here. You have to read it to find out.

This is so angsty it sucks at times. In conclusion you really can't hate anyone here. Life isn't easy but Mischa isn't happy so she acts not it. Should she have ended her marriage before contemplating her affair, in hindsight it would've been the best option but then we wouldn't have this heart wrenching story......& her journey of discovery.

5.0 out of 5 stars Devotion & Deception in Love 2 May 2015
By Toni H - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I am so impressed by this author. I loved her previous books so I couldn't wait to read this one. Stylo's writing is so original. When a person reads as much as I do, many stories begin to run together, and much of the phrases, words and scenes seem on repeat. Never once while reading My Time in the Affair did I get that feeling. And I had absolutely no eye rolling moments.

Mischa is married to Michael. They have always been best friends, but their love life is nonexistent. She has to travel out of the country with her job and meets Tal. He appears to be everything she ever wanted in a lover, but she never planned to have an affair. Nothing is or goes as she thought it would with Michael or Tal.

I told you, fate. What a mother [...]."
"You're such a romantic."

MTITA is filled with so much heart and soul. Most would never imagine sentiment this deeply over someone cheating. It's hard to find where to lay the fault on which of the characters. None of the main three are unblemished—Such a tangled web of endearment and lies.

I also wanted to add that this book has lots of side story. The main focus is the affair, but many other things are happening. It is not one dimensional.

Of course those who can't handle a story on cheating should not read it, but to the rest of the romance subscribers, I recommend this beautiful, poignant drama. It illustrates the allure and the agony of love. All decisions have consequences.

"Come find me."

1.0 out of 5 stars How do you justify cheating on your husband and best friend? 15 May 2015
By NightOwl Reads - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I don't mind reading about cheating if there's a strong justification. Mischa's justification for her PLANNED infidelity on her husband and "best friend" was his inattentiveness. Why stay with him for 8 years if there's no satisfaction? I got sick of Mischa's whining quickly, and to make matters worse, her whiny attitude lasted throughout almost the entire book. She kept telling herself it was wrong to cheat on her husband - she repeatedly states that she KNOWS it's wrong, but it certainly didn't stop her from going back again and again. And then the end, their failing marriage was conveniently placed on the husband's shoulders.

2.0 out of 5 stars My time in this affair 8 May 2015
By Amazon customer - Published on Amazon.com

I don't have issues with cheating/affairs in books at all. Things happen, life happens. Reality. But I found several things a bit disappointing in this book. One was the heroine. Although she is coasting along in her marriage to her best friend yet not fulfilled, especially sexually and unable to get her husband to deal with their disconnection, she plans a year in advance to go have a one night stand when she'll be working abroad away from her husband. She dedicates herself to a fitness program to lose excess weight in order to get ready for this planned adventure. In Rome she meets a tall dark handsome stranger and has a one night stand which quickly and unexpectedly turns into much more. All along I found the heroine Mischa to be on the whiny side, but I guess she got more than she bargained for emotionally. But then how do you go about "planning" this then, especially when she says her hubs is her best friend?

Tal, the hero, is some sort of secret Israeli commando type, whose real vocation is a suspense secret revealed towards the end. He is constantly referred to as "exotic" and "looks dominating." It's unfortunate that although he's spent most of his life outside the USA, he speaks in complete American slang and "gonna" this and "gonna" that just like our Detroit heroine. He's too casual American in spirit. Which brings me to a major problem I had with this book. We are taken to Rome for Mischa's hot adventure in life, one of the most legendary and romantic cities in the world, but I might as well have been back in Detroit. I was looking forward to some rich detail here to go with the spice of this story, especially as the characters do tool around and do "touristy things" a lot. They eat "ice cream" on the street from a vendor. I think it's called "gelato." Then we go to Istanbul, which Mischa declares is "gorgeous." Really? If you say so.

There was a nice buildup between the characters in the emotional progression of their illicit relationship, and also in the at long last revelation to Mike, her husband, who comes over to visit Mischa in Italy. Poor Mike is the typical American tourist type in comparison to exotic Tal. (he's also a momma's boy which annoys his wife.) The last 30% of the book I didn't find very interesting, from Tal becoming insta-buds with Mischa's dad over the phone over their mutual love of baseball (boys will be boys, I guess!), to Mike's own revelation which can be seen as explaining and excusing everything all nice and tidy (that was a huge slap in the face to this reader). Mischa on the whole is a character who teetered on the annoying to me the entire way through the book and she sounded much younger and screechy than she was. But I guess the whole experience helps her find her inner strength. Tal came off as a show off, a standard cardboard cutout Alpha. There were hot moments and emotional moments, but overall, things got melodramatic for me even in the big action moments. And especially the suspense factor in the last part of the book. Then all the drawn out "come find me" at the conclusion was a bit over wrought for a (non) "epic" finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books of 2015!!!! 3 May 2015
By Beatriz from Cover to Cover Book Blog - Published on Amazon.com

Let me first start by saying I try to stay away from books with cheating on them, is just a subject I don't like to read about. But this book was written by Stylo Fantome, only one of my absolute favorite authors, so of course I HAD to read it. Let me just tell you how grateful I am I did. This book is everything!! I mean EVERYTHING!! I FLOVED it, from page one to the very end. I read it in one sitting cause I HAD to know what was going to happen next. So be sure to clear your schedule when you read it cause you are not going to be able to put it down, not even once!! This book will consume you!! That's probably one of my favorite things about it.

From the moment I started reading this book the story felt real. When Mischa started explaining her reasonings for what she was thinking on doing, I felt connected to her, and I sympathized with her situation. Not because I have been in her position but the author explains it in a way you can't help but feel her pain, not only for what she is going through, but for how torn she feels about what she is thinking of doing. You can feel her pain in the pages, also her frustration. It's an incredible well written book!!!!

I don't want to say much about this book cause you have to experience it all, but let me tell you, you will not regret picking it up. The writing is phenomenal. With amazing, well developed characters. Characters that felt so real and relatable they made me feel every single FEEL!! The other reason why you should read this book is.... TAL!!!! Tall, dark, handsome, swoony, delicious TAL!! That is all you need to know. Just do yourself a favor and PICK THIS BOOK UP!! You'll thank me later ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow I would never have though that I would say I LOVED THIS BOOK, but hey I did! Its a great Book! One Click it now 27 January 2016

WOW!!! I Really Loved this book!

OK so Yeah so I am going to go completely off topic for just a second to prove a point! I read this book after seeing someone leave a comment on another book we had both read and her review was just way different than mine, couple fewer stars and I was like what? Did we even read the same book and so for the first time ever I clicked on the review's name and it brought up her list of reviews (I didn't even know that was possible lol) and I realized we had A LOT in common in the books we have read. So I get to wondering what 5 star books she has read and how she felt about those and wanted to see the difference in why she only put 3 stars on a book that I gave 5. OK I get it on this book YEP It IS a 5 star book for sure and I realize we don't ALL feel the same about how a book makes us feel! I still think the other book is also a 5 star read but she has her own opinion and the right to it! The other book was a big cliffhanger and as a lot of books are today I noticed she reads some book series but seemed to pick stand alones more often so that might be it she didnt like that its being string along I dunno just my assumption I dont always get it either but I was satisfied and I a know its probably easier for the writer to get out a 80,000 to 100,000 words in a book and do 3 or 4 maybe even 5 instead of doing a book that's 400,000 words Ok so if you decide to look at what I have read I am almost mortified because I have been terrible about writing reviews and it is my New Years Resolution to Review all my books I have read because I do understand how it does help the writer! Si I'm try really hard and to also go back and do reviews as I go along on past books I have read and not reviewed!

This is my very first book from this writer I have read and oh my I am so glad I found it, I just want to hug her and my Kindle! lol THIS BOOK OMG this book it affected me in so many ways just so many! So ok yeah cheating I am not into cheating but I get it, I know it happens A LOT! I am a married 53 yr old woman and have been married 30+ years and I love my husband and he is my best friend if I had been Mischa I would have been spying on Michael I would have wondered WTH was his problem and their problem, but yes she did try i dont think she dug hard enough but she tried she wanted counseling, this woman tried to make it work with her husband. Now do I condone the preparation she did knowing she was going to cheat, no not really but hey this is a book its fiction and it was what was in Stylo Fantome's head! :) I also wonder if all the changes Mischa did before leaving for Italy was actually for Mikey and if he would have reacted differently would she have reacted different as well because she truly did Love her husband.

Ok so I am not a big spoiler but I'll give ya a little bit! this book is about Mischa and Michael and they have been together 8 years married 4. Met at a young age in college working at Target and become best friends and are actually with other people when they meet but become instant best friends then a kiss and a kiss back and that is it they are married later down the road and now well now she is so unhappy! She is 27 and her job (she works as an insurance agent but use to be a Dancer but had to stop from an injury) asks her to go to abroad to help open several new offices and needs help training and setting up the offices, she jumps on it, going to Italy yes sign her up now its new she needs new. So she knows and starts loosing the 50 lbs she has gained after her injury and her marriage that is just deteriorating right in front of her eyes, I believe she is truly depressed. One of her friends works out with her to lose her baby fat after having her first child this is Mischa's best friend but yet she doesnt know about all her problems and also she states her hubs is her truly Best Friend, so I dont really count this friend much she is kind of crappy even though in the book Mischa does a lot for her. But anyways on to the part before I quit spoiling my little bit she gets to Italy and she is kind of disgusted with the all the guys hitting on her and decides this is stupid it is NOT happening she cannot cheat on her husband her best friend! In comes Tal yep that is his name he is tall, dark and handsome and he takes a Big interest in Mischa and saves her from 2 guys in the same night they have drinks end up walking around stop and have more drinks in a motel and he drags her to the elevators and well you gotta read this yourself to get the rest! :) Yep I fooled ya I am not telling you anymore!

Joking I cant quit just yet I did love that we got both POV of Mischa and Tal. I LOVE TAL!!! I love Mischa's dad I do not love her momma at all!!! Tal wow He is so hot. At first I think he is a total manwhore and is after one thing just as she is and well I think he was but this book it takes more twists and turns than I have ever seen its a head turner and big twister! Its GREAT such a Winner and for cheating and for me to say this well you just have to take my word for it and READ THIS BOOK!

People do have affairs and most times they have reasons, she had reasons and I get it I really do after I find out all the things in this book I get it I am ok with it! It happens you have to make your marriage work but I do get that sometimes marriages do not work for different reasons and this book shows us that, I wouldnt go about it like this but in the end i still love this book and it will be one of the books I return to read through the years over and over to remind myself about "how it should feel to be Loved" Thank you for that Stylo Fantome you did that in the most fantastic fashion ever! Read This Book folks you need it, I cannot say that enough and grab some tissues I think you might need them cause I surely did! it will have your emotions everywhere!

And since I have never read any of your books I read the beginning of the "Kane Trilogy Degradation" and I already got the first book on my Kindle and I am about to dive in! :)

Thank you for writing books Stylo! :) I did get this book and the other with KU so I will end up having to buy the book because its one of those books you have to have to read and reread and share with others! Yes share this book!!!
