It’s been very helpful to build mindfulness and understanding that we can control our thoughts and emotions

A great book to read to young children, as it talks about everyday situations with some interesting lessons to be learnt. Kate is an engaging character and we follow her as she discovers resilience to deal with the normal ups and downs of life by developing the strength of mind to be herself, and do her best, while realising that sometimes that won't actually be quite good enough to achieve her goal. I particularly liked her interaction with her father, it felt very real. I read this book to my granddaughter and she loved it, and I could see her identifying with Kate as we read it. I think she might have taken to heart some of the important lifelong lessons that the story imparts. Actually it is probably a good book to have and read from time to time to young children when they encounter similar problems and have a sense of not managing the situation very well.

I’m certain the author was watching us through a window that day. A great book for little minds, teaching resilience and staying positive. -dad

Not worth the money

I was looking forward to this book coming as soon as opened I was very disappoint with quality.
Too bad the contents are exceptional.
For £9.45 I expected so much better, the pages are very fine, the cover remains half - open since the first time you read it.

Not necessary for an emotional healthy 5yo
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 October 2019Verified Purchase
I recommend you to buy this book only if your child is struggling with things like bulling in school or other recognisable psychological issues. Otherwise your child won't benefit from it, but will make a problem! It happened with my 5 yo. And I think that the 'technique' proposed in the book work for 7yo or older. A 5 yo can't really understand or apply them, they look quite confusing to them. The book is OK, but not brilliant.

very well written and very helpful for little girls struggling with things with their life. My daughter get anxious about little things very easily and I wasnt sure what's the best way to approach it. This book for her peace of mind worked very well and I'd recommend it to other parents.

Useful tool to aid kids with resilience, seemed to resonate with my 6 year old
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 3 January 2021Verified Purchase
My son is very tentative when it comes to new situations or tackling things that he is scared of. I bought this book as another tool to use as we have been working on resilience and how to approach situations such as this. This book seems to have resonated with him, I didn't think the cover looked particularly appealing for a just turned 6 year old however in a pile of new Christmas books he chose this one.
What surprised me the most, was a trip to the park recently when he came across a large piece of climbing apparatus and he said he couldn't do it. We reminded him of the words in the book, and he said he would have a go even though he was scared. Half way up I could hear him repeating some of the words from the book, reminding himself that he could do it.
This is simply a book, it is not going to fix any problems you might have but it is another tool at your disposal and seemed to resonate with my son.
Book is a little flimsy but shouldn't impact too much of you take care of books as we encourage our children to do.

For infant age
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 December 2019Verified Purchase
Wasn't suitable for my 9 year old as the content is really only good for quite young kids. More infant than junior age.
Very simply written as some ideas to try to be positive about some tricky things.
Not a book of a variety of strategies for a kid to try.
