Seth Stewart fell in love with his sixth grade sweetheart, Josie, then one day she just disappeared. He’s never been able to forget her, subconsciously unable to stop himself comparing other women to his lost love. None have ever measured up, not that he’s had many.
The summer after his father’s death Seth returns home from college to help his grieving mother and to manage the family businesses. He’s only been back a week when he is welcomed back to town by a brunette beauty cutting in front of his lane and then flipping him off. Later, he’s shocked to discover it was Josie. His Josie, and she’s his friend, Lexy’s new roommate.
Josephina Anders is trying to piece her life together after escaping her possessive ex and having a difficult start in life. She has things in her past that she’d rather stayed in her past. When she sees Seth again all the old feelings return, amplified to a new level. Can she risk taking a chance at happiness or will she be dragging Seth into a mess he doesn’t deserve and couldn’t possibly understand?
I read this series out of order and I think it impaired my ability to connect with the characters when I was reading My Serenity. So, I went back and read it again. I recommend reading My Clarity first.
Seth is a quiet sort, not the kind of guy to be a ‘player’ or the centre of attention. He’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders; busy looking out for his family when he too is internally grieving. His friends are there for him. He looks up to Elijah in particular, their relationship more brotherly than friends. He keeps mentioning how much better with the ladies and how much cooler Elijah is. It’s not from jealousy, though, he’s simply stating their differences and his reasons for looking up to Elijah.
Josie is a compassionate soul.

HASH(0xafe3c06c) out of 5 stars Josefina’s life has never been easy. Her home life was one that she couldn’t ... 20 July 2015
By Amy Bosica - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
My Serenity follows the story of Josefina and Seth. Josefina’s life has never been easy. Her home life was one that she couldn’t wait to escape from. The only good in her life was Seth. Seth was her first crush and he gave her the strength to get through each day. Little did Seth know that the day he got his first kiss, would be the last day that he would see Josefina. Seth has always wondered what happened to Josefina. When Seth returns home after the loss of his father, the last person he expects to run into is Josefina. When the two of them are reunited after all this time, it’s as though no time has passed at all. As things start to develop between the two of them, Josefina’s past catches up with her. Will Josefina ever be able to escape her past and get the HEA she’s always wanted?

I thought My Serenity was an ok read. This is the second book in the My Clarity series and it can be read as a stand-alone. This story is told from dual points of view. The pacing is mid-range. I liked the idea of the story. The characters were fun and entertaining. I loved the chemistry between Seth and Josefina. Josefina is strong and has been through a lot. She’s a survivor and has just tried to make the best out of things. Seth is determined, a great friend and loyal to his family. He’s exactly what Josefina needs in her life. I loved watching the two of them together. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next.

That being said, I would have liked to have seen Seth and Josefina’s relationship develop a little more. These two fell in love at a young age and then were separated for quite some time. A lot has happened in that time. I would have loved to see them get to know one another more. Don’t get me wrong, the sexual tension between the two of them was great, in fact, I loved it. But, I felt like their relationship as a whole was on fast forward and just left me wanting more.

My only other issue was the pacing. I thought the story started off really strong and with a good bang. It definitely had me interested and intrigued with the story. Then, I don’t know how to really explain this, but the pace sorta flattened out. The good news was that it did pick back up again in the end.

Overall, My Serenity was a quick read for me. It was a sweet second chance romance with no shortage of drama. I did have some issues with Seth and Josefina’s relationship development and the pacing. Other than that, it was an ok read for me. This book is sweet, has some mystery and intrigue. As well as some angst and romance. Even though this wasn’t a grand slam for me, I’m still glad I checked it out. I think this author has a lot of potiental and I’m looking forward to reading more from her in the future.

HASH(0xb02c9d74) out of 5 stars A second chance at a first love! 17 July 2015
By N. Byers - Published on Amazon.com

Right away you engage with Josie and her history and I have to say I found myself really getting mad on her behalf. I got so angry with her mother but honestly you really get to see Josie shine through her circumstances and you see how her strength of character in refusing to become a product or a victim of her circumstances. Then you meet Seth and you see first love rekindled and honestly who of us doesn’t have that one boy who got away that we wish we could reconnect with. I know I do so this part was really special for me. You get to see a special moment in Alex and Elijah’s life that you might have met in the first book My Clarity. And finally you get to see how both Josie and Seth come together after overcoming their own struggles and challenges but most especially letting the person you love most see all of you. I think it is really easy to justify hiding our own struggle from someone we love because we want them to see the best possible version of ourselves. I think this is where the story excels in that they realize that the “grass isn’t greener” that the other person doesn’t have this “perfect life”. We all have our strengths and flaws that build us up and keep us humble. Seth and Josie also learn that each season of life will bring its own set of challenges. They learn that it is how you let yourself lean on the person being willing to be transparent to that person as you face both both the good and bad life throws at you. They realize your strength comes from that foundation of love, and trust as well as the willingness to be weak so the other person can be strong for you. .

It is a beautiful love story and you need to get your copy today! I really think you will sad to get to the end cause the story is so well written and you get so invested in the character’s stories that you will not want it to end.

Mary Ting is amazing and you have to check out this book and her other series. You will not want to miss a second!

By Jennifer Pierson: The Power of Three Readers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
There is simply not a book by this author that I don't absolutely LOVE, and My Serenity is no exception. 5 stars just isn't enough.

Seth Stewart has to return home when his father dies. Because of this tragedy, he is forced him to takeover the family's auto shop and restaurant. Although he can't take the prestigious internship after his first year at Berkeley Business School, fate steps in and puts his first crush right smack in his path. Josefina has many secrets that she is too ashamed to tell anyone, especially Seth. Too much has happened to her since they knew each other, so she has huge walls up. As Seth starts to removed bricks, one by one, the past decides to crash into her life once again. Will Seth's connection to Josefina be strong enough to fight for her?

M. Clarke has a brilliant writing style that pulls every emotion out of her readers. My Serenity is a one bumpy, emotional ride. I laughed, cried, got frustrated, angry, and felt the tangible love. Her characters has always fabulously well developed, and the secondary characters always rock. The author has a serious gift of pulling the reader in, gripping them tightly, and then makes it almost impossible to let go when the book ends. I LOVE this author and My Clarity. Not only do I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend, I'm pretty much demanding everyone reads this fabulous book.

I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is Seth's story, he is dealing with the loss of his father. His friends are there to help him out. He leans on Elijah because he has gone through the same loss of a parent. The whole family vibe is amazing and this group of friends are the type of friends everyone would want to have in a situation like this. They are there no matter what, and will always have your back. Without giving anything away, this was an amazing story and I loved it. I just couldn't put this book down, it is very well written and the characters are so likeable you will wish you had them in your life.

“Brad gave me the most hideous, malicious smirk, letting me know he was more than satisfied. I wanted to take of of the knives from his group of deadbeats and rip his heart out, just like head with mine.”

5 big, huge, fat stars!! This book was so well written and flowed so flawlessly well! I was hooked from page one!! The characters were well developed and the plot wasn’t predictable at all! Bravo!!!

The book starts with Josie while she’s six years old. And while Josie is a sweet little girl she has a massive secret. After a few years Josie is done running from her secrets and is now living with a friend from high school. And soon she runs back into Seth, her first love. Just when she thinks her life is going swimmingly, her past comes back to haunt her again. Will their love survive the secrets from the past?? This book had me laughing and crying, it’s an absolute emotional roller coaster but I completely enjoyed the ride!! Excellent read.
