But life now is not as simple as it was twenty years ago. With two kids, a hopeful ex-husband and new insecurities, Mia finds opening up to a new relationship more challenging.

Will she give her first love another chance, or will she push him away, this time for good?

When I started this one I really did contemplate not finishing it. It was just a wee bit too corny for me.

After twenty years two high school lovers get back together. That's a long freaking time to wait to get your act together... when no real justification was given.

Mia was a divorcee with two kids that she was dedicating her life to. Her ex husband was a cheater and still very much on the scene and Adrian was her first love from twenty years previous that she had never gotten over.

Mia was annoying. She did a whole lot of thinking with her "groin" throughout the entire book and even considered her ex in those thoughts even once Adrian was on the scene which made her seem a little fickle to me.

She also spent a lot of time making excuses for why she could not be with Adrian.

Adrian was patient, kind, good looking, rich, successful etc etc etc and was willing to sacrifice everything for a love that he waited twenty years to pursue.

A little out there for me. Occasionally hot. Very long and detailed for a predictable romance. Two stars.

My First, My Last was my first Lacey Silks read and certainly not my last. I absolutely loved the premise of this book. It was very sweet and potentially a realistic happenstance. First loves are never forgettable and this story proves that love can prevail if you are determined enough to pursue it. Mia is a great character that has her priorities right, but needs to be a little selfish sometimes, like all mothers.

Mia Claring is a thirty-five year old, single mother that has a complicated relationship with her ex-husband. With two children to think about, being with another man doesn’t even come into the equation until her first love, Adrian Reed appears out of nowhere.

Mia and Adrian met almost twenty years ago in Europe. Mia stayed with her Aunt each summer to see Adrian and he was her first love, first exploration of hormones and first heartache. Every year since she saw him last, Mia has never forgotten what he looks like, smells like or tastes like. But she had to move on and married Dan Claring; together they had two beautiful children now aged 12 and 10.

Mia is out with her best friend Isabelle when she sees Adrian, but cannot believe her eyes. It’s not until he turns and says hello that she is certain. All the air rushes out of her lungs, he still smells the same, but he isn’t the lanky teenager any more. With a deep voice and bulging muscles, Mia is hooked once again. What is he doing here and why now?

Adrian has never forgotten their love, it has only grown stronger and he is now determined to have Mia back forever. Mia is reluctant, Adrian is her dream but she isn’t confident enough to succeed in another relationship, especially with Adrian. If they couldn’t be together, she wouldn’t survive it.

I loved this book it is engaging from the first page and only gets better and heats up from there!! Lacey Silks does it again with, My First, My Last!!

Fate intervenes and once again Adrian and Mia happen to cross paths in at bar where Mia just happens to be,
and sparks fly between them once again, he having been Mia's first and Adrian wanting Mia to be his last. Things begin to heat up immediately right there in the bar, it was like love at first sight all over again even after 20 years.

With Mia's fear of failure from having divorced her ex who cheated, and with her having kids and her responsibilities of her children, and an accident that leaves Mia in devastation, she realizes that she can't let the hunky, loving, caring, man she is meant to be with get away again.

Adrian is super sexy, sensitive and completely and totally in love with Mia, he realizes just how much he cares about and loves Mia and being so caring and understanding Adrian is willing to do whatever it takes to get Mia back.

Without giving too much away these two love birds, end up realizing just what they need in each other, what they loved and missed about each other, as well as making themselves the priority in their lives once and for all!! With their strong connection to each other, they take the second chance they are given and plunge into it!! Mia's kids bond with Adrian and he with them!!
Will they get to live happily ever after?? Read it and find out I can promise you, that you will not be disappointed!!

My First, My Last, will not disappoint, you'll be gripped into the book from the first words to the last words, and every word and steam hot detailed sex scenes in between and quite possibly, left wanting more!!

This is another absolutely HOT HOT HOT book from Lacey Silks!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so much 22 September 2014
By Lauren Campbell @ Live Read and Breathe Reviews - Published on

Gah! I wanted to like this book so much because the idea of the story had such huge potential but the whole thing fell quite flat for me.

Right from the beginning something about the heroine irked me, I didn't even realize what her name was until half way through the book.

The idea of this book is that two people were lovers twenty years ago and circumstances separated them and now twenty years, kids and failed relationships later they find themselves with a second chance.

"Fate. Second chances. Because I can't stand living without you anymore. I can't stop asking myself all those what ifs. What if we'd stayed together, what if I hadn't been with someone else when you came back that one summer? What if I'd kept writing after I didn't hear from you? All the what ifs I've collected through my life. A bagful, you could say. I've got one of them answered at least: what if she tells me to leave right away?"

From the first words on the page, Mia came across as weak and whiny. Her first love Adrian comes rolling back into her life causing her heart and libido to wake up after a long slumber. Adrian asks her for a chance to reunite which she immediately agrees to but she wants to take it slow. Ok, at this point even though something about her annoys me I'm ok with this but then she goes home and her cheating ex husband is there and because her sex drive is woken she toys with the idea if getting her horny rocks off with him.

The fact that she still had a sexual relationship with him after the divorce and cheating was enough for me to get frustrated with her. I got the guilt about ending her relationship with her ex because of the kids but the rest I didn't get when it came to her thoughts with her ex.

This book was ok. There were so many details thrown into this book that really didn't add to anything going on in the story. I think they were to build character but instead for me it was the opposite effect. I did finish it in the hopes it was going to get better as some books do but unfortunately for me that was not the case.

4.0 out of 5 stars Captivating 18 July 2014

Mia is a divorced mother of two children. She still has close ties with her husband, as they share the responsibilities with their children. One day Mia’s teenage love returns into her life and causes her to question on whether to move on with her life or stay where she is at, so she doesn’t rock the boat with her ex-husband.

Adrian was amazingly hot and the perfect man. He really knows how to love a woman. The moment where Mia went to Adrian’s house and he was baking apple pie was intense. I wasn’t sure if they were actually going to finally go at it. Their chemistry was perfect and the sex scenes were steamy. I wasn’t sure if Mia was going to choose Adrian or stick with the comfortable life with her ex-husband and children. It was emotional and raw and left you with a very torn heart. I cried and laughed throughout the entire book. I couldn’t put the book down as I wanted to know if Mia would give her whole heart to Adrian.

I was annoyed with Mia and her relationship with Dan (her ex-husband). She allowed him to hurt her horribly, but she still put him first. I had to put the book down several times to take a breath and not get so angry with Mia.
I do wish there were some type of drama/suspense within the book. It seemed to circle around and around Mia’s emotions and I wish there was something else to take a break from her insanity.

I would recommend this book to anyone needing a modern true love story. However, this is an 18+ book since the sex scenes are intense and graphic. Some foul language is also throughout the book.

I don’t believe there is another book following, as it didn’t appear that there were any cliffhangers. The book ended with you knowing exactly what is happening.

3.0 out of 5 stars Second Chance With A First Love 20 July 2014

**3.5 Stars**

"You wanted me to be your first"-he paused-"and I want you to be my last." ~ Adrian

"Nothing matters when you're near me. You make long trips seem short, time nonexistent, the desperation inside me eases to comfort, and life is now worth living." ~ Adrian

My First, My Last was a great second chance romance novel about two people finding their way back to each other after 20 years. Adrian was Mia's first kiss, first boyfriend...the man she'd lost her virginity to. When he walks into a bar and she comes face to face with him again, she can't even remember her own name. Gone is the boy she once knew, Adrian is now a hot, pierced, tattooed man who has come back to reclaim his first love.

Adrian was amazing!! Sweet, sexy, sensitive and absolutely in love with Mia. I loved his patience and understanding...he cared about her so much and was willing to do whatever it took to get her back. While I liked Mia and understood her concerns, considering what she had gone through, she frustrated me a bit at times. She spent a lot of time focusing on her ex-husband and his needs, his feelings instead of taking care of herself. It wasn't until a misunderstanding and a tragedy took place that she got a wake up call....realizing that she could lose the love of her life, she finally decided to live for herself.

Overall, I enjoyed the story but felt it dragged a lot. Adrian and Mia had great chemistry, their connection was real and the intimate scenes were HOT!! This was definitely a true love story with a HEA. Looking forward to reading more from this author!

3.0 out of 5 stars Give Love A Second Chance 7 August 2014
By Pearls and Peacocks - Published on

WOW! This book perfectly captures what happens after divorce. Can you find true love again? Can you open yourself up to the possibility of marriage? Even if it’s with your first love?

Sometimes you have to give love a second chance. Sometimes you should give your first love a second chance. Because sometimes it works out.

Newly divorced Mia finds herself dating her first love, Adrian. Separated for 20 years, these two give love a second chance. Blended families. A jealous ex-husband. A guarded heart. All difficult hurdles these love birds must overcome to see if their love will endure.

My Random Thoughts on This Book:
This was my first time reading about an older couple. (Not too old more like in their 40s) Because of this, they are more mature and make better decisions. A lot different from the other books that I read. No drama. No silly mind games. Both Mia and Adrian knew what they wanted.
This was a sweet story. Very heartfelt. Cue the violin. I love when soulmates reunite. I can’t believe Adrian waited his entire life to marry her. When Adrian asked her to be his first and last wife, my eyes started watering up.
The buildup. Can you imagine waiting 20 years for the love of your life? Can you imagine the first time you have sex again? Fireworks.

Overrall, the story didn’t move me. I didn’t hate it nor did I love it. There were moments when I wished the story would move along, and other times when I enjoyed the pace. I give this book 3.5 stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars they especially when they separated for good. He lived in a different country than her ... 28 July 2014
By StephPhillips - Published on

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.

I think it would be so neat to have connected with your soul mate when you're a teenager. How would you know for sure though? Adrian & Mia kinda knew....they especially when they separated for good. He lived in a different country than her and didn't ask her to stay - she tried her best to move on. She got married, had kids, then divorced after she found her husband cheating on her. Then Adrian walks into her life again.

I struggled with this book - I don't know if it was a result of a book hangover or the story really didn't strike me. I skipped most of the middle of the book to see how it ended. It kills me when I do that because I know I miss a good chunk of the story, but I wasn't feeling the story. I figured there had to be some drama somewhere. Mia's ex-husband wasn't going to let her see someone new if he could help it and she had lots of potential drama with the woman he had an affair with. She deserved to have her HEA with Adrian.

Of course when I skipped ahead....I found some drama. Tragic drama. It's touch and go for a while. Mia is beside herself. The doubts, the worry, it's all coming to a head. She know she loves Adrian. She knows he's everything she's ever wanted - but she's too scared to commit to a man she loves again. She has her stupid ex-husband to thank for that. But will she allow this tragedy to walk away or will it seal her fate with Adrian for forever?
