This was the first book I have read by this amazing writing duo and I can say for a fact that I will definitely be reading more stories by these amazing authors.
I liked Blanca ………. for a while. She was this strong, independent young lady who quit the job she hated to chase her dreams. She reconnected with a childhood friend and was living the life she wanted. Then she just annoyed me with her weak choices when it came to Ethan.
The first meeting between Blanca and Ethan was great and I felt the instant attraction. But I wanted him to be less wishy washy. Because omg did he run hot and cold worse than a teenage girl and I wanted my own set of rusty scissors. He drove me nuts and Blanca was just too accommodating for a woman with a backbone.
But all that said, it's Piper Rayne and the writing was good. The next book is so well set up and I am really excited to read it. This one just wasn't the one for me.
Blanca has just moved in to a new apartment with her old friend Sierra in Clifton Heights. We also meet Dylan, Seth, Rian and Knox all living in the same building, friends who are the Rooftop Crew, with their hangout place being the amazing roof on top of their building. Blanca is just starting a new job, following her dream of writing, she’ll be writing articles for online publication and guess who she meets on her very first day on the new job .... Ethan. Also a writer, they’ll be working quite closely together. This is something Ethan is really conflicted about as he is very attracted to Blanca, but is unsure about their work and personal lives overlapping. This part frustrated me slightly as Ethan was hot then cold then hot again, but once he made his mind up it was all go! He was also feeling slightly burned by a previous relationship where things progressed quite quickly and then ended ... and we soon discover the connecting dots of this story and who Ethan’s ex is.
“And you and that girl are like magnets right now, sooner or later, the draw is going to be too powerful and you’ll come together. Work or not.”
I really enjoyed My Bestie’s Ex, it was a fun read that kept me intrigued on how the story would pan out, laughing at some of antics of the crew and also cheering for Blanca and Ethan to get their own happy ever after despite the obstacles in their way. I felt their connection right from the first chapter, the banter and wit made me smile and the authors kept the storyline interesting throughout, not only with the main characters and their relationship, but also with their friends who I can’t wait to read about in their own stories, hopefully?!? A great first book in the new series, My Besties Ex is a 4.5 star read for me that I recommend to all readers who enjoy contemporary romance and love following a group of friends and their adventures along the way!
This was my first book I have read by this amazing writing duo, but I will be reading their backlist, especially Blanca’s older brothers books!
Thank you to the author and Wildfire Marketing Services for the early copy of this book. This is an honest review and my opinions are my own.
I am beyond excited that Piper & Rayne have a brand new series - The Rooftop Crew - and by the amount of minor characters featured in this book we are in for some great stories to come.
If you are a die hard fan like myself, you would have already been introduced to Blanca Mancini, but if you haven't read the While Collar series, don't fret - as this book is obviously book one in a whole new series and it is like starting from a clean slate.
I did wonder how this writing duo could overcome the taboo side of a best friend dating the others ex. But I really should have known that these two could pull it off and actually show both sides of the equation. It was exceptionally well done.
Now the epilogue to this book hints at who's book is up next, and by the snippet I just read I think I will need to buckle myself in for what is only going to be a wild ride!!

When we meet Blanca she has just quit her job in finance which her heart just isn't in. She bumps into an old friend as she is leaving, one thing leads to another and she is moving away from the city and moving in with her best friend from childhood Sierra.
Through as series of accidental meetings, she bumps into a guy on the train, there is an instant connection, she then discovers he is her new work colleague! Ethan's number one rule is he doesn't get involved with colleagues! That didn't last long!
It was fab catching up with Blanca's family who we all met in the White Collar Brothers series! As always with Piper Rayne stories I love all the side characters and I can't wait for them to get their own stories!
Blanca seemed to have a solid foundation and was very loyal. Enjoyed the friendly banter.
