Cook writes with a finely honed technique, developing each stage of the story to a tense climax, without going into too much exposition like many modern amateur writers. He never over describes a scene and keeps it fleetingly simple. The character development is the best thing about Mutation as it really makes the characters own the plot rather than the other way around - another mistake of modern writers. I'm really glad Cook is now on kindle; about time some quality fiction found its way there.
