Product Description

In Music of the Heart, an unexpected twist of fate caused Abby Renard to fall into womanizer Jake Slater’s bed. What started out as a small spark between the unlikely pair, grew into a deep and intense love. After a year-long engagement, the two have finally been able to set a wedding date. It’s off to Mexico for a destination ceremony on a private beach. After a heated week long honeymoon in a tropical paradise, the two return to the real world of touring and making music together.

As the newlyweds settle into married life, another twist of fate challenges their love. For once, Abby isn’t able to be the rock of strength that Jake needs. Can the two of them hold on to the strong foundation of love they have built, or will it crumble under the pressure?

This was a brilliant novella about Abby and Jake during the first couple of years in their marriage with a strong headed Abby and a very insecure Jake it follows them thru some very strong and very real emotions of any marriage. I cried from the beginning so I suggest have a few tissues on hand.

Overall this book is a must read to this series. My only complaint is that there a a few too many spelling mistakes and mis placed words which makes you have to re read some sentences.

4.5 stars for me. I love Jake & Abby. Who am I kidding - I love all the Runaway Train boys. This is a great series & it was wonderful to get more of Jake Slater. Abby is so likeable too it's hard not to constantly root for this couple.
Well written, funny, sexy & full if real fears & emotions. Loved it :) Can't wait for Rhys's story & hopefully more from the Jacob's Ladder boys too

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet and Sexy Novella 6 January 2014

I first fell in love with Jake and Abby in the Runaway Train novel Music of the Heart. I was immediately drawn to the story of bad boy rocker Jake Slater falling for sweet and sassy country singer Abby Renard. Having just released on December 30th this was my first read of the new year and what a great way to start! Now I've fallen in love a second time with the continuation of their story in the novella Music of the Soul! In true Katie Ashley fashion the novella is both sweet and sexy and filled with emotion.

At the end of Music of the Heart things finally seem to be working out for Jake and Abby. They're engaged and their careers are really taking off. Abby with her brothers in the band Jacob's Ladder and Jake and the other members of Runaway Train win their first Grammy award. Music of the Soul gives us a glimpse into the future of each band member and let me tell you things have changed a lot for these hard core rockers! Jake and Abby have a beautiful and romantic wedding followed by an oh so hot and steamy honeymoon in Mexico. When they return to their hectic lives of recording and traveling on the road things get bumpy and their marriage is put to the test. Jake has a choice to make. Will he run or step up and be the man Abby needs him to be?

If you love Katie Ashley than this novella is a must read and an added bonus for all Music of the Heart fans! Thank you to Katie for giving me what I desperately wanted - more of Jake and Abby!

My first book to read in 2014! And it didn't disappoint. I love this series from Katie Ashley.

Jake and Abby had that soul mate love. After everything they had been through, they were finally getting married. But it's not always smooth sailing even for those that are meant to be. It's time for Jake to step up and be the strength that Abby was for him in the past. Will he be able to step up to the plate or will demons from his past help to slowly push Abby away.

I love Jake and Abby. Even though they are celebrities, they still have everyday problems like the rest of us. They are grounded because of Abby and her love for Jake. And I loved seeing AJ and Mia, Bray and Lily and the set up for Rhys and his story next. Fans of the series will not be disappointed and if you haven't read the series...add it to your TBR list. Its a fun and hot read.
4.0 out of 5 stars OK JAKE WHAT'S UP WITH YOU? 17 May 2014

Jake was more of an ass in this story than usual. Why is it in novels and real life, one person in a relationship loves more than the other one? In this pair, Abby loves Jake and Jake is a selfish prick. What do you mean you are worried you may cheat? If you loved Abby like you should, the thought wouldn't enter your pea brain and why Abby didn't you tell him so? All works out in the end but I still love AJ best. Of course we don't know to much about Rhys yet. Still I have really enjoyed this series.
5.0 out of 5 stars Is there a such thing as 'Happily Ever After'? 17 May 2014

There is finally a window of opportunity for Abby and Jake to have the wedding they both so desperately want. Due to their popularity and the tour, there isn’t a lot of time for the honeymoon or the celebration. The two decide to marry on a secluded island in Mexico. Allowing them to spend some much needed time between the two of them.

After the wedding of her dreams, Abby wants nothing more than to have the life she always dreamed of. Jake is not exactly on the same page. His childhood has tainted his view on starting a family. A decision that causes friction between he and Abby.

As the two head back to their lives on tour, they find that their priorities aren’t the same. Married life isn’t quite as easy as they thought. Doubt is always creeping into the picture. As they lead life from a tour bus, they soon discover that their relationship will take an unexpected turn.

After Abby’s future dreams are shattered, Jake finds that he can’t give her what she needs. Will it destroy any future they have together? Can they overcome the odds and their insecurities? After all, life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes you have to improvise.

Katie Ashley has written a novella that explores what happens when the ‘happily ever after’ doesn’t work out as planned. The glance into Abby and Jake’s life as a married couple will leave you experiencing a range of emotion. The bond of friendship and family appears throughout the story. Leaving you wanting just one more glimpse into the lives of Runaway Train.

This was beautiful. I was so happy with this story. I was so happy when there was going to be more Jake and nervous how it would be done. These two deserve nothing but the best. They have a beautiful wedding and then the topic of babies comes up. Abby is ready to start a family and Jake isn't. So how will they make their relationship work? can Jake give up his insecurities in time to me the man Abby needs?
These two go through soo much this book .Highs and lows, twists and turns. You will simply have to read it to see how it all ends. It was short and sweet. God Bless the Broken Road is one of my favorite songs. When that started playing I broke into tears, this book was truly emotional, I found myself crying many times throughout this book. And when Abby seen Susans face, I broke down. That moment was probably my most favorite part of this book. Thank you Katie, for doing this book justice and Jake and Abby. I loved it so much. And now, I cannot wait for Rhys story!!

Some quotes I loved:

"I love you as high as the sky,"

"No one but you- now and forever."

"Oh God, we're become the dudes we used to make fun of, haven't we?"

"Men spend their lives being obsessed with boobs, and then the moment a baby is attatched to it, they lose their minds."

"In the end, you make your special moments, and they usually happen when you go off the script."

"I was wrong. And when I decided to just screw the script, that's when I found the truest of loves and the greatest happiness."

"Besides, more of you us just more to love,"

"His ball and chain for now until the day he dies."

"Is that code for you want me to come downstairs so you can have your way with me?"

"Actually, I think it was more that I was a caveman who didn't want some oiled dude in a banana hammock dry humping you."

"We make our own luck. But more than anything, we make our own memories,"

"She's good. If we ever need an alibi, she's our girl."

"Are you insinuating that I'm not manly enough to carry you across this beach?"

Don't you know by now that we Runaway Train women are always right?"

"No one will revoke your man card, I promise."
