'The Murder List' is her best book to date, and the underlying mystery will baffle even the most savvy crime fiction and legal thriller readers." --Associated Press Nobody keeps me guessing like Hank Phillippi Ryan and she's done it again in The Murder List, which combines the best of psychological and legal thrillers into a genre entirely Ryan's own. I raced through this high-stakes game between prosecution and defense, where the bad guys could be anyone, depending on where you stand. An absolute must read for 2019!" --Mindy Mejia, internationally acclaimed author of Leave No Trace

Not A FanReviewed in Canada on 10 July 2020
I struggled just to finish this book...the dialogue was weak, all too familiar plot/storyline and the ending was highly predictable.

HOOKED AND CAN'T LET GO!!!!Reviewed in the United States on 26 August 2019
Hank Philllippi Ryan has done it again with this stand alone book, The Murder List. I had started the book in the middle of the afternoon, as soon as I received, and my poor husband had to throw something together for himself for supper. I was not able to tear myself away from this book until the very last page and I DID NOT see the ending coming. Although after thinking about it the signs were there but blended into the story so well I did not see them until the end. Looking forward to the next Hank Phillippi Ryan book!

The Murder ListReviewed in the United States on 27 August 2019
I have read and enjoyed the author's many books but did not find this one to be her best. It was interesting and had lots of twists but the characters lacked appeal to me. I couldn't tell you much about Jack, the husband other than he liked to win in court and somewhat loved his wife. I didn't feel any passion coming from him towards his wife. He more or less patronized her. He seemed like a cold fish to me. His wife, Rachel, seemed to be the same type as her husband. I would never want to be friends with her as she would talk my ear off. Then the prosecutor, Matilda or whatever her name was who hated losing cases to Jack, wanted the ultimate revenge against Jack , who hated her and didn't hide it. But Matilda was a cold and calculating fish. I guessed who the guilty party was about 2/3 of the way in. The ending was disappointing and lacked any luster. Despite all of my criticism of the characters the author kept me turning the pages to see if I guessed the correct ending. Miss Hank, please go back to writing about Jane, the reporter. I loved that series!!

A different take on the legal thrillerReviewed in the United States on 3 September 2019
Trying to come up with a review for this book has me scratching my head a bit - but in a good way. Ryan has managed to turn what I thought would be a good, if fairly "normal" legal thriller/murder mystery on its head. The legal thrills and murder mystery are there, but she adds some interesting character studies and a few lovely twists and turns, along with what I thought was a truly chilling ending. That said, I can see why some reviewers say they didn't empathize with or relate to the main characters; for me, Ryan managed to make them all interesting enough, and complex enough, for me to find something to keep me engaged with each of them. I had pretty high expectations after Her last book; this one did not disappoint.

Hank outdoes herself!Reviewed in the United States on 24 August 2019
This is Hank's best one yet, and that's saying something. She is the Mistress of Misdirection and will keep you guessing until the very end. I never saw it coming and yet all the clues are there in plain sight. Don't start this one at bedtime unless you can stay up all night.
