Murder by the Barrel: A Libby Sarjeant Murder Mystery: 18 Paperback – 28 May 2019
When the sleepy village of Steeple Martin announces its first beer festival, the locals are excited. Beer, sun and music, what could possibly go wrong?
As it turns out, a lot. An unexpected death shakes the village, and it's up to Libby Sarjeant to solve the puzzle. Or at least, she thinks it is. The police may have a slightly different idea of who’s case it is, but small details like that have never stopped Libby before.
But was it just an accidental death or is there something more sinister afoot?
‘Nicely staged drama and a memorable and strangely likeable characters’ – Trisha Ashley, author of Sowing Secrets
‘Been reading the "Libby" books for a few years and have loved them all. Recently decided to re-read all in one go!’ – Reader Review
About the Author
Like many authors, Lesley started writing stories as a child. After a checquered beginning, including jobs as varied as actor, model, cabin crew and nightclub DJ, she fell into feature writing for publications including Business Matters, Which Computer and Poultry Farmers Weekly.
She progressed to short stories for the vibrant Women's magazine market and, following a Master's Degree where she met her publisher, she turned to her first literary love of Traditional British Mysteries. The Libby Sarjeant series is still going strong, and has been joined by The Alexandrians, an Edwardian mystery series.
Lesley also continues to work with her local theatre, which often finds its way into her books.

This novel is more of the same as Libby, Fran and DCI Connell search for a murderer who interrupted their beer and music festival. In this book we get to meet a few more of the Steeple Martin inhabitants and come face-to-face again with Superintendent Bertram, otherwise known as Big Bertha! The story cleverly interweaves threads of satanic witchcraft in the recent past with modern themes of greed and loss, and all the while re-acquainting us with characters from previous novels, and introducing new ones who are sure to become firm favourites.
The proof-reading and formatting of this Kindle book has improved greatly and, unlike in earlier books, my enjoyment was not spoiled by silly mistakes.
This time, Libby, Ben and Ian have embarked on running a beer festival, but murder isn't far round the corner.
As usual, Libby and Fran get involved, this time not totally against Ian's wishes.
The characters are really well developed, I could see this adapted for the small screen perhaps?
Looking forward to the next book. ..
