I am a big fan of Peter’s having read most of his books and this one did not disappoint.
He was able to take what could easily have been a complex and intricate financial narrative and present it in a straightforward and easily understandable and thoroughly entertaining way that requires no detailed knowledge of the mortgage, banking or legal marketplaces.
Because the book was divided into many fairly short chapters, it made it easy to read in bite-sized segments but this was also an annoyance because each time I thought “that’s it – end of a chapter – I can now put the book down and go to bed”, I kept thinking “just one more short chapter” and before I knew it the clock was showing 2 o’clock in the morning.
One word of warning though if you read this on a Kindle.
My settings show the amount of time left in the book and I was enjoying it so much I was pleased that there was still 22% still to go. And then it fell off the end of a cliff! The last 20% was actually four preview chapters for another of Peter’s books. And while he is perfectly entitled to do this, it left me hanging in the air – not because the book didn’t have a proper ending but because I thought I still had a fifth of a really enjoyable 5-start story left to read
