Jake Etsam is a member of a hot rock band and wishes to make an album of lullabies as a special gift. When he hears a lullaby written and performed by Ryn Hudson, he is enchanted and wants her for his album.
Ryn teaches music appreciation to babies and toddlers. She is also a widow and when Jake blows into her life, she is not sure she wants what he is offering. But Jake is persistent and while he wants Ryn and her lullaby on his album, he finds he wants more than that.
Ryn hasn't dated since her husband died and when she is seen with Jake, her husband's family is less than pleased. Her studio is broken into and her beloved guitar smashed.
Ryn is conflicted, but things escalate and Jake wants to keep her safe.
I loved this book from start to finish. I loved the characters, Jake with his tongue-tied uncertainty and Ryn's loyalty to her husband, although that is underpinned by anger she has yet to resolve. The story moves along at a good pace and the suspense builds up steadily and keeps you guessing right to the end.
This is the first of Ms Padgett's books I have read, but I'm now compelled to look at the other books in this series.
If you're a romance reader, I definitely recommend this one.
