Like a Jacques Tati farce

Gentle endearing, romp of a farce. Reminiscent of Jacques Tati's Monsieur Hulot and Inspector Clouseau, with faithful side kick Pommes Frites the dog. Nice easy entertaining read.

Good quality light read

Another light and frothy French confection for grown-ups from the writer of Paddington Bear. The books are formulaic, but in a nice, comforting way that you become familiar with as you work your way through the series, although each main plotline is very different from the others. Lovely use of language, descriptions, etc, a few knowing jokes and who could fail to love M. Pamplemousse's faithful hound Pomme Frite?

Such Funny antics

Love Pamplemousse and Pommes Frites and this is equal to the other Michael Bond books. I think he is on a par with the hilarious George East and his Mill of the Flea series. Love to laugh, but it has to be good writing. And these do it for me.

Pamplemousse, Pommes Frites, and Le Guide
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 12 June 2016Verified Purchase
Oh, how great to read Monsieur Pamplemousse adventures again! Accompanied of course by his trusty ex-gendarmerie bloodhound the thinking Pommes Frites on their culinary forays around La France in the service of Le Guide. Some of the material is rather adult.
