Didn't love it but didn't hate it
29 April 2019
This was a hard book to review. I loved the Fifty Shades Trilogy by this author and this was a treat to get something new from her, but it was a hard book to read. It was painfully slow. It seemed to go on and on FOREVER. It was interesting with the cultural differences with Alissa being from Albania and all she'd endured. Sex trafficking is a terrible thing and sadly happens a lot. There was plenty of mystery and suspense. Drama too. It took me forever to warm to the characters of Maxim and Alissa though. Maybe it was the length of the book? I don't know. He was a spoilt brat at first and yes he was grieving, but I didn't like Maxim at first. Alissa was an incredibly strong woman for all she'd suffered through. I guess, I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it. Whereas I've reread Fifty Shades numerous times, it's unlikely I'd ever reread this one.
