DESCRIPTION

Seline Templar hasn't experienced an easy life. First, her father died for reasons that have been shockingly concealed from her. Then Seline's mother, Molly, went missing in suspicious circumstances. So she's been raised as a ward of King Steam in the Steamman Free State, far away from the potential perils of her home in the Jackelian Kingdom.

Raised in relative solitude among the machine race . . . until an old friend of the family, the steamman scientist Coppertracks, turns up in the capital with news of the most amazing discovery. It will set Seline and her companions off on a dangerous adventure to the mysterious and distant Mightadore.

There's only one problem with Seline's destination. Many are those brave souls who have set out to reach the legendary city. But, nobody has ever come back alive from the trip to describe what they found!

So good to see the Commodore back with us. The next question is where is he. This story begins with all of the steam-punk excellence you expect from Hunt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good start but concerned at the episodic approach 15 October 2015

I've been a fan of Hunt and his steampunk stories for years. Though the narratives have at times gotten darker they have remained enjoyable. This book is actually only a couple of chapters right now and had potential. I would caution Hunt on approaching writing this way, incremental chapters. Especially if it was the recommendation of the publisher. We are taking a chance buying the book, please don't treat it like a service.

Exciting to read about old and much loved characters. Was very happy with 1st chapter and some much loved and familiar whining. New characters are interesting so far. I like how Stephen Hunt writes about gutsy women characters. Not so big on the mechanical rider things. It's like steamer quiditch and I didn't quite get what was happening. Sorry Mr Hunt I'm not a good reviewer I hope this counts?

4.0 out of 5 stars A good start for book 7. 3 July 2015

These first two chapters offer some mystery and some action with the promise of more to come. And some interesting twists for longtime readers of the series. I'm excited to read the rest when it's available, and now I also want to go back and reread the first six.

So glad to see Mr. Hunt dusting off this series. I had to plumb the hidden corners of my mind to recall where everything left off but it all came back as I enjoyed his unique style and I already love where he's taking the tale.
