5.0 out of 5 stars quick read. 29 September 2016
By Rajiv - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
The book is short and to the point on mindfulness. I usually like short books. I have read book on Presence from Eckhart Tolle - "Practicing the Power of Now", which helped me changed as a person. This books is a reminder of why mindfulness is important to balance all areas of our life. What touched me more in this book was Essentials mendifulness reminders on Being and some of the 8 anchors of mindfulness. I have met Charnita at NVC IIT, Bangalore this year, and I found her living her life mindfully. I truly believe this book has come from her heart, as she radiated that calmness during our interaction. She is walking her talk. I recommend this booklet to all those seeking self-transformation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mindfulness for beginners is a beautiful composition of the essentials for a peaceful 3 July 2015
By Pavitra Kumari - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Mindfulness for beginners is a beautiful composition of the essentials for a peaceful, healthy, and happy life. We usually tend to become 'mind less' to ourselves and our surroundings in a fast moving world. It is a reminder for us all that we need to pay attention, and how our mindful actions and our attempt to be present can have a life transforming affect on the self and all life that surrounds us. The small things which we take for granted, right from our breath to our thoughts and words, when mindfully attended to have the possibility to create the extra ordinary. It shows the reader that through mindfulness we can actually perform better in every sphere of our lives.

Language: The author has employed language, which is unambiguous, clear, and to the point. The book itself is a mindful use of reader's time, and in its own use of language and space. The language is accessible and easily understood, which shows the author's attempt to reach a larger audience.

Experiential Relevance: The booklet draws from experiential, everyday events to which each one of us can relate to.

Mindfulness for beginners is an essential read for anyone who wants inner-peace and balance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Liked it, but feel it is more a synopsis than an introduction to mindfulness 10 October 2015
By Kenna McKinnon - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Charnita has written a booklet on mindfulness interspersed with terms probably readily recognizable to her peers, with a faint perfume of what I've learned of Zen, yoga, and meditation, mindfulness as a constant state, not always practical for the modern businessman or woman. I found the "Essentials" at the end of the booklet to be the most valuable and clearly written of "Mindfulness for Beginners" and personally most rewarding. I intend to reread the "Essentials" of mindfulness, which serve as a synopsis, as I understand them better than the truncated version of Charnita's philosophy and the Perfect Life Spot. This handbook would be a good reminder to those already familiar with mindfulness and the Perfect Life Spot. Of note, there are numerous errors in punctuation, which appears to be scattered haphazardly throughout the book with commas, colons, and especially dashes in unexpected places.

I was asked to provide an unbiased and honest review of this booklet in exchange for a free copy. I'm happy to do so. Liked it, but feel it is more a synopsis of mindfulness than an introduction.
5.0 out of 5 stars `Mindfulness is the capacity to be in the present moment.' 2 July 2015
By Grady Harp - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Author Charnita Arora is the founder of Perfect Life Spot (PLS). She mentors (offline and online) sessions on mindfulness, inner-peace, emotional well-being, self-discovery, self-expression and self-actualization. Her gentle caring is evident in the message to those who would open her book: `In a world where immediacy, over-stimulation and distraction have become the norm, this pocket-booklet simply hopes to bring you back to your breath. It aims to politely disrupt the norm and bring you buckets-full of nourishing breaths for more inner-space, equanimity and joy. We have never been more connected, and yet we have never been more alone. Why is it so? This booklet that you are reading aims to encourage you, to restore that essential connection within yourself. It engages in awareness-training in a very simple and practical way. These insights on mind-management shall initiate you into more inner-peace, equanimity and happiness.'

In her introductory comments Charnita offers the opposite of mindfulness - that being mindlessness: `When our mind is full of past ruminations or future anticipation, then our mind is pre-occupied. This state of absence or unawareness can be referred to as Mindlessness. If our mind is already booked, then we are on a 'budget-mind' space. On a 'budget-mind' space, we are unable to interact with our context with the mental alertness, openness, humor and clarity that would contribute to our happiness. It also means that since we are pre-occupied, we do not have sufficient space for the present moment and its possibilities. In such a mind-space our perception of reality is very limited. These perceptions are only crude estimates of reality. When we identify with them, our reality becomes limited. This causes us suffering. To elaborate, in a state of mindlessness, we are more likely to either overlook or misunderstand, (ours and others') needs and feelings. Overlooked or misunderstood needs and feelings are the major cause of chaos, conflict and pain. - Mindlessness leads to Suffering: Mindfulness leads to Well-being.'

Though to take full advantage of Charnita's thoughts it is best to read (and re-read) her book in the silence of your own space. There are lists and issues that are of paramount importance, such as her Anchors of Mindfulness: `Stream of Consciousness' or Free-writing, Spending time with nature, Being with inspiring people, Body-awareness, Digital-Mindfulness, Mindfulness Rituals/Sign-posts, Concerts of Silence, and Earthing.' Just a brief sample of the content but hopefully enough for everyone to obtain this beautiful book. Grady Harp, July 15
