This was a delightful book to read. I really enjoyed the friendship, and passion between Ben, and Tess.
Ben's wife died while she was pregnant. He has been grieving his wife, and the child he never got to hold. The day he met Tess, she brought sunshine, and light into his dark world. They shared one passionate night, And Ben was disappointed when he woke up the morning and Tess was already gone.
The book starts out three months later, when Tess knocked on his door to let him know she was pregnant, and he was the father. Ben stepped up to the plate to take care of her. Tess fought him along the way. I really like her independence. She made it clear she just needed a little help, but would not take advantage of Ben's wealth. Tess had always taking care of herself. She never had anyone to help her before. She felt uncomfortable accepting help.
The banter between the two was perfect. Below are samples of my favorite parts of the book.
Sample: Kissing Ben had felt like two pieces of a puzzle locking together in a perfect fit.
Sample: He couldn't screw this up. It was almost as if someone was giving him a second shot at this. The chance to keep this child and Tess safe. It wasn't a responsibility he planned to take lightly.
