It's been a long time since I've read anything by Katy Evans, so when I came across this one, I quickly snapped it up! It was amusing as to how Lizzy and James met, and he was willing to go along with everything that she wanted to begin with, but it was sweeter watching them fall for one another.
Lizzy was determined to impress her father by finding the perfect model for the campaign for her Father's suit range. She found James and indeed she did turn him into the perfect model. The more time that they pent together, I could see the sparks flickering between them.
I liked seeing Lizzy grow through the story. She saw the world a lot differently through James and it was sweet to see her drop her guard a little when he was around. He confused her, and she didn't know how to act on the feelings between them. I liked that James was willing to take on this job of Lizzy's, but didn't lose focus on his own goals. He also changed for the better throughout their journey, being a little more polished, but his personality was still there.
There was a moment in the book where the drama threw me a little, and I was like NO, NO, NO! It annoyed me that Lizzy was a little childish and jumped to conclusions, and that James didn't fight harder for what he wanted and to set the record straight. Other than that, I really did enjoy the read and had hopes for Lizzy and James to find their happiness.
However, I did like it, but didn't love it.
I think for me, the main thing I didn't like about he story was Lizzy. I just didn't feel any kind of connection with her, just didn't really like her at all. And acting like a 3 year old chucking a tantrum when you get the sh!ts is not going to endear you to me - at all.
James. Oh, how I loved the idea of James. And for the most I adored the guy, I adored how he is with family and friends. But man, FFS, the forever coming on the the woman just got to be too much, and I just wanted to yell at him through the pages - but this could just be me.
Yes, there was plenty of steam and attraction between the pair, but seriously, for me, they just didn't fit and no matter what, I could not see them together.
This is going to be one of those stories that Katy Evans readers are going to either love or hate.
This was an anomaly for me, as I have enjoyed all the other Katy Evans books I have read in the past.

"This guy isn't hot, he's more like...raw and primal. The sexiest guy I've ever met."
Elizabeth AKA Lizzy Banks is desperate to impress her impossible father. In her desperation, she decides on a crazy plan to play Pygmalion on a guy who's the opposite of anyone she's ever known...but is the most compelling man she's ever met. When she turns this sow's ear into a stunning silk purse, she finds herself confused, turned on, and falling hard.
"I need her to fall FOR ME. I need her to know that she's mine."
James AKA Jimmy Rowan would do anything for a bet. He's keen to overcome his circumstances and give his younger brother a life without hardship or fear. When the beautiful Elizabeth comes into his orbit, he's hooked by her looks, but also by her lucrative proposal. When his sexual attraction develops into something deeper, he wonders if he's worthy enough to fit in her world.
"I've fallen in love with my own creation. I polished a diamond, and now it's flawless. But it's not mine to keep."
I really enjoyed this story! It was SUPER SEXY! I loved the instant chemistry between the main characters - there was no denying how fiery they were together. I loved how Jimmy brought out the naughty girl in Lizzy, and also made her feel comfortable and able to be her true self with him. I loved how Elizabeth brought out the finer James, and also his desire to be more than the sum of his parts. I also loved how much she actually appreciated the man who always was - she didn't like to think that she'd changed him...she'd just improved him.
"Lizzy inspired me. She inspired me right out of Tim's Bar, because I had a feeling about her."
James/Jimmy is a solid guy. He's is certainly a diamond in the rough. His morals may be a little loose but underneath it all, his heart is in the right place, and he does the crazy things he does for an admirable reason. Elizabeth/Lizzy is a girl crying out for her father's love and attention, and going about it all in the wrong way. She's found it hard to do anything but obey her father, and it took a lot for her to finally stand up to him.
Overall, an enjoyable, sexy, easy read.
Unfortunately, the models she approaches are blatantly not interested. So she is forced to find someone else. And he turns out to be James Rowan (Jimmy) an online stunt dare devil. She finds him in a back street bar. He has potential. But will he accept her proposal? And if so, will she make him PERFECT?
Well, I suggest that you get and read this story. Perhaps you will find out that there are sometimes pit falls in getting what you wish for.
I think that Jimmy (James) was one of my favourite characters ever written by this author. He just had it all for me. And I really liked Lizzie’s character. Her desire to please her father was so relatable, as was Jimmy’s loyalty to Charlie.
A great book all around. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
An easy and sexy read, with a good plot and interesting characters.
Can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Told from both POVs
No major editing issues
Elizabeth Banks is an heiress. In an effort to prove herself to her father she sets out to find the perfect man for their new line. What she doesn’t expect is to be shot down by every person she wanted.
Jaded and upset she ends up in a seedy bar on the wrong side of town. While there she meets Jimmy, a street rat who looks like a model.
Jimmy it’s just a guy from the wrong side of the tracks. He never expected to be offered $1 million to model for a suit line. All he has to do is act the part, but that’s a lot harder than it seems. Especially when he finds Elizabeth so attractive.
Can he prove himself to her and her father, or will he blow it for everyone?
I don’t want to give anything away so if you are worried about spoilers you might want to stop reading now. I just have to note the things that had me scratching my head.
1. Certain parts of the book felt unfinished. His most prized possession was given to his little brother. Did he ever get it back?
2. He lost some points with me when he let another chick rub on his manhood without stopping her even though he was in love with Elizabeth.
3. Towards the end, was it Kim or Jeanine who screwed her over? I swear I think the author just wrote the wrong name, because Jimmy tells Jeanine never to speak to him or Elizabeth again but then later she says she is going on vacation with Jeanine.
4. The end felt really rushed. It took more than half the book for them to be intimate and then even longer for the drama to play out and then with one chapter left they get together and we get a short epilogue. I just wanted to see a bit more of their life after finding love. What happened to his brother? Did they move? Did he stop being bullied? Really hoping we see more of them in the future.
James is a bit rough around the edges but that's also part of his appeal. He is real, a risk taker that does what he needs to look after his brother and make ends meet. Makes no apologies for who he is. I like that about him. When Lizzy randomly discovers him her attraction is immediate and imagination gets the best of her. She is in a tight spot stuck between trying to please her father and ward off the competition and eventually take over the family business. She may have a life of luxury - but that is all material. What Lizzy needs is sustenance in her life. Can James help her achieve a victory? Can she mold James in to the face of her launch while resisting his charm, advances and sex appeal? The sizzling attraction and constant struggle between remaining professional and giving in to the growing inferno of sexual angst is absolutely delicious. Every witty word, every innuendo, every touch just stoked their attraction. All perfectly paced and executed.
What happens if they catch a case of the feels? What happens if they give in?
This book focuses on Lizzy and James, two different individuals and a man and woman who are completely different zones. Lizzy is the only child and daughter to Mr. Banks, the owner to one of the biggest men's fashion companies in the world. Lizzy is smart, beautiful, hard working and has tried everything impossible to please her Father, but since she's female and working in a men's fashion company, the odds are significantly stacked against her. When an opportunity comes for Lizzy to make her Father proud and take the reins of the company she jumps to do so, until she can't find the perfect man for the new campaign she needs.
Enter James: the gorgeous and cocky Youtuber who doesn't turn down any dare and will literally do anything for money. He's a bit rough around the edges and lacks manners but Lizzy immediately gets the idea to turn James into the perfect model for her Father's upcoming campaign. She doesn't think about how attracted they are to one another or the fact that their different social standing could put everything she's built with her Father and career at risk. Million Dollar Devil is a great story about a great couple falling for one another despite their social standings which I love this trope when it comes to romance books. What I also loved about Million Dollar Devil is the fact that Lizzy is such an amazing character and person; she basically has dedicated her entire life to her Father and his business (even going to freaking Stanford!) yet she STILL feels like she's not enough for him. The things she goes through and how meeting and falling for James plays out, it really warmed my heart and is such a great message for anyone out there who gives it their all and still doesn't feel like they are enough. Katy Evans has such great messages in all of her books but Million Dollar Devil's message will definitely stay with me for a long time. Million Dollar Devil is a MUST READ for any contemporary romance lover!
James Rowan is just a rough around the edges guy getting by with his stunt videos. He’s got his own following and he’s willing to do just about any stunt on video to make some cash.
The day Lizzy walks into the bar he frequents, life as he knows it is about to change. She’s about to make him an offer he won’t be able to refuse. All he has to do is become the perfect gentleman for a few months and then cash in on the big payday.
James’ only problem is that he’s more interested in the woman behind the offer, than he is in the cash!
This story is a slow burn. It has all the sexy and a man no woman can resist. Lizzy and James are an inevitable explosion! James definitely delivers as the dirty talking alpha. He knew what he wanted and was willing to make the effort to break through Lizzy’s walls. The story had an incredible sexual tension and sweet moments. Total opposites that ended up being the perfect match.
