Book one of The Lord Of The Abyss by Michelle M Pillows.
Bridget is a scientist and doing a study of deep sea animals but when they find a strange clothed man in water things start to fall apart. Her ship is destroyed and she wakes up in a glass bubble which turns out to be Atlantis.
As a scientist she really struggles with the explanation to everything but slowly realises she can do everything she wanted to study and be happy in the Atlantis bubble.
Caderyn is the sexy merman that saved Bridget and I would have never thought a writer could make Mermen sexy but surprisingly MMP pulled it off.
Great story absolutely loved ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great story 28 March 2017

This was a different story. I have never read a book about the Merr or other know as mermaids or merman. This one is a little different. Try to imagine forever being forced to live in the sea. You could not surface and breathe the same air as humans or you would die. These creatures lived in Atlantas the city under the sea.

I can not imagine the fear that Bridget must of felt when she fell into water and started sinking. Then to wake up in the unknown. I guess it was lucky that she was a scientist because this should be ever scientist dream.

Caderyn was this sexy Merr. I can not imagine how lucky he felt to have brought a human female to his world and she survive but the fear he must of felt of the fear of rejection. He wanted her for himself.

There is so much back and forth between Bridget and Caderyn. Bridget is highly attracted to him but is scared he is not attracted to her. She has also hurt his feelings. Their relationship truly is on and off again.

It truly was an interesting story and glad I got a chance to read the story.
5.0 out of 5 stars Under water wildness lol 17 July 2015

Bridget Dutton has always loved the water and wanted to study under sea life. She signed on for a year trip to do just the but add to that a mix of fate and humans should be careful what they wish for ☺their life may change completely.
Caderyn is a hunter from Ataran. He and his team are hunting a monster called a Scylla. It attacks boats and sinks them. But before he and his teammates can get it. The Scylla strikes again. Now in Ataran woman are rare so then 2 are sinking to their deaths they most be saved if at all possible.
I live the world miss pillow thought up with the Merr and the Olympians. Their both Merr people but their thinking is completely different.
The Olympians are where the sailors get the story of half fish woman pulling them under water to die.
Clearly Bridget and Caderyn are not from the same place and time so they think completely different and her not on the same page with dealing with each other. It makes for a very hard start to a relationship lol
this book was was a great mix of action, drama, with miss pillow normal hot and steamy times tossed in.
I loved it and can't wait to read more on the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Left Me Wanting 31 October 2013

While I am beyond in LOVE with the idea behind this series actually getting the story to sound good on paper seemed like it was a bit difficult. I would have loved to see something more happen here. More sexual tension, more character development, more love...this book just left me wanting to read a really good mermaid paranormal! (Or should I say merman?) I will be borrowing Lords of the Abyss #2 from the library and hoping the author will be able to pull #2 off. All in all I think it was a good read, just not the spectacular read I was hoping for.

What happens when you rescue a scientist and take her to Atlantis? She doubts, disbelieve, and tries to use logic. I already enjoyed Michelle Pillow's writing, but this was a fun twist. Mermen and mermaids living in a bubble under the sea because Poseidon got mad at the Atlantean's high and mighty attitude is a little hard to explain to a scientific mind. Oh yeah, and they are all hundreds of years old. A fun read for 18+, mermen are very sexy.
3.0 out of 5 stars she will do whatever it takes in order to accomplish her dream of studying the great abyss. When her boat is suddenly attacked f 9 March 2016

Bridget Dutton is a scientist working who’s dream involves staying and unmasking all the hidden secrets of the ocean. Though her dream is not taking chemical samples of the oceans water, she will do whatever it takes in order to accomplish her dream of studying the great abyss. When her boat is suddenly attacked from below, quickly destroying and sinking the ship she knows the end is near, when a mysterious stranger rescues her from within the water and takes her to his home.

Caderyn the Hunter has longed to find a wife to live out the loneliness of his life. An ancient curse set long ago, Caderyn and his people are forced to remain in the abyss in the submerged city. They are Merr people and though they live forever, they wish to share their forever with someone they love. The Merr people live within the abyss and suffer from one key issue: loneliness. Forced to live within the ocean, they do not have the capability of meeting new men and women who may want to be their wives. As the hunters patrol the waters for threats, they are ordered to try and save any women who is close to drowning and bring them to the city to live. Caderyn has finally found and saved a women from certain death but how can he convince his hard headed scientist that they are in fact underwater.

This was a fun and interesting read. I enjoyed the fact that we had Merr people as I have yet to read a book involving mermaids. It was great fun and made me, of course, think of The Little Mermaid. It was easy to relate to Bridget as she could not possibly believe all of what Caderyn told her especially given the scientific nature of her thinking. I found her intriguing and albeit a little annoying at times, but it worked with her character.

Caderyn was an interesting character and while he was described as eye candy, I really had no feel for him as a character. He seemed like a statue with little to no feelings or emotions. In the end, it was easier to see how he did have some emotions but they were poorly executed in my opinion, as I never quite felt he wanted a wife as much as he claimed too in the beginning.

It was also very confusing how the whole “you are now my wife” thing came up when Bridget denounced Caderyn as her guardian. I still don’t quite understand what that was all about and it could really use some more explanations. Furthermore, though they touched on the whole children concept, not much was revealed and it really bothered me because I was curious as to what was wrong that did not allow them to really reproduce. Especially given how the book ended.

Nevertheless, it was still an interesting read which I enjoyed and enjoyed enough that I still picked up the second book because I want to see what will happen to our other hunters!
