Suspenseful romances are my favorite genre and this book did not disappoint. Having a rich and seemingly flighty female lead who turns out to be resilient, clever and brave made the story so much more enjoyable as she worms her way into the heart of a war hardened hero while striving to survive in the jungle. Highly recommended if you enjoy romantic suspense stories that are full of action.
Heaps of action packed into this book ! Lots of romance and steam and extremely well written. I felt like I was in the jungle. This book was originally written in 1986, so it is dated in the fact that there are no mobile phones, computers etc, but I'm dated as well, so that didn't matter - LOL !
Absolutely loved it with two strong characters and great dialogue that made me laugh out loud in places, and with a fabulous plot that kept me on the edge of my seat - a definite keeper and well worth reading again!

One of my favourite from Linda Howard. The heroine was funny and her sassy attitude kept the hero on his toes. The romantic build up was well written. The hero saves the heroine time and time again and is so gentle and caring, offering a softer side to his animal instincts and jungle warrior profile. My heart actually dropped when Sullivan thinks he has been betrayed by Jane.
I liked the ending how she managed to get her own way and I laughed out loud at how she went about this... With an exasperated Sabin getting dragged into it.
I have read this a couple of times and will continue to read it again and again and again.
Some of Linda Howard's books are amazing. Like Midnight Rainbow, they have a sizzling relationship at the heart of an adventure. It's a compelling combination, for me. If this were the first book of hers I'd read I'd give it five stars ... but I know there's even better to come with books such as 'Cry No More' and 'Son of the Morning'.
A most excellent adventure/romance where nothing is quite as it seems and the spark between heroine and hero is explosive. Delighted to find this on Kindle after hunting it for so long.
Not so bad, characters are well drawn, they even have surprising depths, and the plot has enough twists , spills and thrills to make this an entertaining read, undemanding but enjoyable.
