I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the characters and the storyline and it had me reading until the end.
There was one little thing, whilst reading I found that this wasn't actually the first book and that I had some missing back story to some of the characters. But that being said the back story didn't mess with the actual story, though I would have wanted to know before getting this book that there were other books before this one.
The whole series of books starts with the 'Scarlett Bernard' series with three books Then there is the 'Boundary Magic' series of three books. Lastly there is this series called 'Disrupted Magic'.
as always Melissa delivers another amazing page turner ... struggled in the beginning to get involved with the story but with all books that I struggle with the boring foundation setting of the storyline, it quickly manages to capture my undivided attention ... who needs sleep anyway !!
It was so wonderful to read this and meet up with all my old friends again.
In this story Scarlett is reunited with her previously good friend, the vampire Molly. No spoilers - Molly has got herself into a bit of strife and the first person she calls is Scarlett. At the same time, Dashiell needs Scarlett's help in the Trials - a time when disputes between the vampires, witches and werewolves are adjudicated by the leaders in front of an audience of supernaturals. Scarlett has to juggle helping everyone with everything while keeping herself sane and out of mortal danger. Just another day at the office for Scarlett really.
Melissa F Olson has a lovely writing style and is a master of plotting. She brings all the elements of her story to a very satisfying close and leaves the reader hanging out for the next installment. I hope she writes many more of these excellent stories.
(And thanks to the author for putting her stories on Kindle Unlimited.)
Midnight curse by Melissa F Olson is a sci-fi and fantasy and general fiction (adult) read. Scarlett Bernard is used to cleaning up messes. As a human who cancels out any magic around her, Scarlett’s job is to keep the supernatural world hidden—at any cost.
But on the eve of the Vampire Trials, a two-day tribunal that allows the otherworldly community to air their grievances, Scarlett receives a blood-soaked message from Molly, her estranged former roommate. Molly, a vampire, had been living with twelve human college students…and in one terrible night, she slaughtered them all. Fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved the story and the characters. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley
