Nice product. Came packed well and earlier than predicted (as a Prime member).
I bought this purely as a lazy way to access some Xbox games that I can play on PC, without having to fire up my PC (also to prolong the life of my PC gaming gear, considering the obscene future-present of overpriced tech that isn't going to change anytime soon... what kind of idiot pays $4k for a gaming GPU.. not an industrial CAD card, but a gaming GPU.. STUPID).
The S is quick to setup and quick to run. 512gb onboard space is fine for a couple of big games and a handful of older and smaller games. If you want to maintain a nice little collection of big games, it is worth springing for the custom Seagate storage expansion (I went with 1TB).
The custom storage element really does make loading very quick. By comparison, Forza Horizon 4, Forza 7 load quicker on the X|S than a more powerful PC (though still don't look "better"). Load times for GTA V compared to PC were about the same. Destiny 2, also much faster to load than on a superior spec PC.
The new gen controller feels slightly better in build quality, all around.
Be mindful that bluetooth headphones, unless officially supported, are such a pain to even try pairing once, you will waste what should have been an entire gaming session trying to mess around. The bluetooth system is somewhat of a closed system... so headphones should either be "official" or plug a wired set directly into the controller. Wired headphones will suck the life out of your controller's power though, so rechargeable batteries are also an absolute Day 1 upgrade as well.
Beyond that... the S seems to be perfectly fine for 1080p gaming, and the fact that you can buy one without worrying about being beaten by grubbing scalpers into getting a properly "retail" priced next gen console is a huge bonus. Plus, the S is digital only, no optical drive... that may be a problem if you are keen on the trade-in system that still exists for console games... but it also means that there is one less component in your console that can (or more accurately WILL) break in the long run.
And as much as I am not a fan of the Windows system... it works really well in the Xbox, and seems to have had a history of far fewer shutdowns than the Playstation. There also seems to be more and more games that you can cross play/install both on your PC and on your Xbox... and the Xbox store seems to have almost as many constant sale events now as Steam, so I have been able to add thumbtard-exclusive titles to my collection I always wanted to try, but could not due to them never getting ported over (ie Red Dead Redemption 1, a number of the Gears of War(s))... all old gen games that are backwards compatible and cheap to buy (when on sale).
Only downside with the console world in general is online/multiplayer gaming is locked away behind "Live" subscription... which still seems insane to a PC gamer like myself... but Destiny 2 does work regardless of not being "Live" subscribed.

Ordered it on a Friday and site said it would deliver by the following Friday, maybe Thursday, but it came by lunchtime TUESDAY!!Definitely recommend purchasing one new.
