Stephen Lawheads pendragon cycle of books are the best ever written on the subject of Authur and Merlin. Great read and well thought through presentation of the early times. This writer could make you believe the legend of Auther and Merlin could be true or at lest have some basis in fact. The books do repeat themselves from time to time when you read them all, however I assume this is so you can just read one book and still know what is going on. The battles are realistic and you have some idea of the struggle in this time of emerging Christianiy. This should be a TV series as it would take off like Game of Thrones into a great box set.
I read the series decades ago and was happy to see it on Kindle. It's a good book, I enjoyed re-reading it, the story has a fresh take on legendary Merlin. I found the youth and teenage Merlin more interesting than Merlin the King maker. Worth reading.
I find these books fascinating, looking forward to the next one in the cycle. I'm Italian and the old English style they are written in may be a little harsh on a non-English speaking native, it tends to take me a little longer to read and they are very thick (although this last one I read on Kindle)

Excellent, well-written fantasy that will get you hooked. It rewrites the myth of King Arthur, intertwined with old Celts legends and Atlantis. This volume focuses on Merlin, giving a more magical/mystical fell to this volume. Must be read along with the other 4 volumes in order to really capture the whole breath of this fantasy universe.
