Great Series and Worth Every PennyReviewed in Germany on 18 June 2017
The entire Mercy Watson series is either a great introduction to chapter books for parents to read to 3 to 5 year olds or is a great book for children, who are at the early stages of reading (end of the first grade to beginning of second grade), to read by themselves. What I liked about this series was: 1. the story is a good, wholesome story and unlike many first readers does not give the impression of being a first reader, 2. the illustrastions are awesome and really help that first time reader understand what he or she is reading and 3. the paper used is durable and very good quality for little hands getting used to turning the pages of a paper book.
Great book seriesReviewed in Canada on 9 February 2021
Great series of books for around a gr2.... They're not long , nice colourful illustrations and gives a child sens of accomplishment reading a series of books.
My grandaughter loved itReviewed in Canada on 22 April 2013
My grandaughter loves these books. She is 10 but is a slow reader and loves the storey line. She is able to read these books with out any problem. She has all 6 books and she is hoping the writer is going to write more about Mercy Watson.

My daughter LOVES this series!"
4.5 year old found it rather boringReviewed in the United States on 13 May 2020
We ordered all of the Mercy Watson series as our 4.5 yr old had started to read fluently and thought this would be a good chapter books series to start with - it was our first introduction to the series as well. She found it very boring and didn't take to it at all. We tried a couple of different times, so it wasn't a case of a certain "mood". I found the writing very monotonous too - ie., the same thing being repeated multiple times. X says "Why don't you..." . Y says "Why don't I... ? " X says "Yes, why don't you..." ....similar instances throughout the series where the story just doesn't move fast enough. Perhaps this is a style for early readers to help them read, but it just didn't work with my kid.
