IN A TIME when men ruled their households with firm hands, can a quiet man tame his rebellious wife with persevering love?

Love Romances Café Best Book of 2011
Kiru smolders with the sensitivity of the loved in describing this man... An exceptional book, well worth the time, money and frustration.....Sigh! ~ Imagervet (Amazon reviewer)

I didn't want the story to end, it was that good. ~ The Wordsmythe (Amazon reviewer)

WHEN A WARRIOR seeks to claim a free-spirited woman, he soon discovers a tigress unwilling to be caged. Is the hunter about to be hunted?

The story is well told, the characters are tight and multi dimensional. ~

I enjoyed the FIERY passion between Ikem and Nneka...their chemistry is totally OFF-THE-CHARTS...and only IGNITED more by their INTENSE and sometimes humorous verbal sparring. ~ Malaika Tamu (Amazon reviewer)

WITH THE WEIGHT of a kingdom on his shoulders and his honour at stake, can a Prince truly love a slave?

I loved the hero, who in a land and time of male dominance, chose to be a man without reproach - a man worth losing one's heart to. ~ Empi Baryeh, author

This book was fantastic. Throughout it I kept wondering how the hero and heroine would end up together. When the major revelation came I said, "Hot holy crap" out loud because I didn't see it coming. ~ Nana Prah, author

3.0 out of 5 stars Standard romance; unique setting 25 April 2017

This is, essentially, a collection of three rather standard romance stories. Strong female characters, romantic misunderstandings, and swoon-worthy heroes of every sort, are exactly what you would expect. Not too many surprises there. What drew me to this was the setting of pre-colonial West Africa. I wanted to sink into that culture and feel a part of it, from the strict etiquette of the royal court, to everyday life, to the joyous New Yam Festival. The author, Kiru Taye, mentioned these things on a surface level, but didn't give enough detail to truly immerse me in that long-ago world. I wish it had been more; it's a place I long to discover through the pages of a great book. (And hey, if there's fun sexy scenes in it too, then more's the better!)
Read it if you're in the mood for some fun, light-hearted romance novels. A few grammatical and editing errors aside, it fits the bill. But I'm still holding out for some excellent pre-colonial West Africa romantic fiction!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like I Have Never Read 23 May 2016

I read a lot of historical romance. I've grown accustomed to Almack's, ball gowns, blonde hair, blue eyes and skin as white as milk. I've come to expect black historicals, the few out there, to be from the American colonial period. As I am neither white nor American, this trilogy spoke to me on several levels. Kiru Taye could pretty much have written any ole thing and I would have lapped it up, but she didn't just give me a setting I've never had the privilege of reading before, she gave me three sweet stories, three true romances. So she gave me both cake and icing.
Thank you Ms Taye. I look forward to more.

This is such a great series. It showcases wonderful romantic and compassionate heroes along with interesting historical tidbits. Our heroines are savvy and interesting. No wilting damsels here! All unique and satisfying stories. I've read them all twice and will continue to visit this book series for many years to come. Definitely Kiru's best work.

I read these stories for like 20 times already. I love African romance that is set in traditional Africa. We need more stories like this that tells the history of African people. I'm looking forward to more books from this author.
