This was written at the bad amateur level of quality. The only thing bringing it up to 2 stars is the pacing. Plot, intelligence, character development are all terrible. I've read bad stories by high school students, who were forced to write, that were better than this.
The author's TV background comes through with the episodic chapters and pacing. From a literature perspective, you have to wonder if he reads at all.
The main character is unbelievably competent, an expert in every period of history he visits. Is able to understand spoken Minoan, based on unbelievable matching of a few symbols with other languages.
The author also needs a better grasp of history if he wants to write time travel stories. He seems to just take his personal favorite times in history and believes he understands the context and environment.
Avoid spending money on this book and series. I'm inclined to avoid any TV episode he has written.
