I don't know about you, but I am astonished at how difficult it has become to find anything like a basic kids coloring book. You know: nice big pictures, in which the objects and characters are just outlines, so kids can add color with crayons? For whatever reason, 80% of the coloring books available -- even in toy stores -- are now "adult" coloring books, containing tiny little spaces in mandala like arrays, meant to be colored with art-grade colored pencils, apparently as some sort of art therapy. Kids somehow got left out in the lurch.
And even the few actual kids coloring books you can find are usually themed (e.g. all Disney characters...) or come with other bells and whistles like stickers, puzzles, etc.
What about the kid who just wants to color?
Well this is the coloring book for that kid. Nice big pages, with nice big animals, flowers, butterflies, fish, etc. that a kid can spend hours working on with crayons, while making up their own theme, instead of having it fed to them thorough advertising.
I got a bunch of these, and a bunch of crayon sets, and gave them to every kid in my life.
Every one has gotten heavily used, and there have been no complaints.
Melissa & Doug make great stuff. :)
