Product Description

The monsters of the past never truly let you go.

For Morgan Jacobs, the last two weeks have been hell. She’s learned she’s a monster of myth with the power to turn someone to stone, that those powers are barely under control, and that a madman is toying with her, torturing her before he kills her like he killed her mother.

To make things more confusing, she’s now living with her too-sexy co-workers, Alexander Gage and Lachlin Kincade, and attracted to both of them. Both men are keeping secrets from her, and Gage’s secrets are about to make everything more dangerous.

I'm glad I got into the Medusa series! My biggest criticism could be that the novels are a bit short; however, each novel builds upon the previous one, so it is worth it to read the series as a whole - the series has a very "episodic" feel. CI Black's style is fast-paced, like Shannon Meyer's Rylee Adamson series is. Her main character, Morgan, suddenly discovers that she is not quite human and in fact is a creature of myth (a Gorgon). Learning you can turn someone to stone with your gaze and not having any training is enough to make almost anyone turn into a recluse, and Morgan continues to struggle with her growing powers. CI does a good job in "weaving" plot threads throughout the series. This novel delves further into the world of the Kin (the mythological/non-human world), and there is more material for a novella, based on some of the characters introduced in this novel (especially the Shadow House). Watching Morgan learn to function in this new world, and meeting the mysterious Alexander Gage and Lachlin, joining their FBI team makes for a fun read, as a whole. You learn still more about Alexander Gage in this novel, and you can see the relationship between the characters continuing to develop. Great plane reading - the series really is a good read when you have a few hours to sit and escape.

My only complaint is the books are too short. Otherwise, I really love Morgan, Gage, Lachlin, Rika and Kate and their shenanigans.
