Hanging in the balance…

THE FINAL BOOK IN THE MEDUSA FILES SERIES.

Morgan is out of options. Ander has proven with deadly force that he can possess anyone and she barely escaped the confrontation alive. As it is, the team is in shambles—injured and in shock. They need help… a plan… anything and everything. What they really need is more magic including magical healing, protection from possession, and anything else that could be used to defeat Ander.

But Morgan knows the truth. This is her fight. Alone. It’s always been her fight. Except even if she can somehow push her powers beyond their limits, she fears she is no match for Ander and her only real option to save her friends is to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I'm glad I got into the Medusa series! My biggest criticism could be that the novels are a bit short; however, each novel builds upon the previous one, so it is worth it to read the series as a whole - the series has a very "episodic" feel. CI Black's style is fast-paced, like Shannon Meyer's Rylee Adamson series is. Her main character, Morgan, suddenly discovers that she is not quite human and in fact is a creature of myth (a Gorgon). Learning you can turn someone to stone with your gaze and not having any training is enough to make almost anyone turn into a recluse, and Morgan continues to struggle with her growing powers. CI does a good job in "weaving" plot threads throughout the series. I really enjoy this series and found myself going - oh no, I can't believe it's the end. There was wonderful world building within this series and there were sufficient 'back stories' with regard to character development, Alexander, the past Kin Wars, Lachlin and his family, that CI may likely be able to write adventures within this series. I do hope she does - and I'd love to see more how Morgan and Alexander's relationship grows now that many mysteries are solved and she is on more of an "equal footing" with Gage. Also, with Lachlin more settled - can they truly build a solid team. More adventures in the Kin World please!!!
