Product Description

Wealthy, attractive Lucas Reika treats life like a party, moving from bar to bar and man to man. Thumbing his nose at his restaurateur father's demand that he earn his keep, Lucas instead seduces a valued employee in the kitchen of their flagship restaurant, earning himself an ultimatum: lose access to his father's money or stay in the middle of nowhere with a man he has secretly lusted over from afar.

Quiet, hard-working Jared McFarland loves his farm on the outskirts of Hope, Arizona, but he aches to have someone to come home to at the end of the day. Jared agrees to take in his longtime crush as a favor. But when Lucas invades his heart in addition to his space, Jared has to decide how much of himself he's willing to risk and figure out if he can offer Lucas enough to keep him after his father's punishment is over.

McFarlands Farm by Cardeno C is a delightful novella with strong characters and a great, original storyline. The writing, as with all CC's books, is effortless and contains sizzling sex scenes that will please lovers of mm. I read this book in one sitting and the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because it ended far too soon!!! If you haven't read this author, lucky you!! The backlist is extensive and I'd rate all the other books 5 star!! Start with a Perfect Imperfections (which would get 10 stars if it were possible) and i guarantee you won't stop until you've read them all!!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

McFarland's Farm is a sweet M/M romance about two very different men. I enjoyed Jared and Lucas' story. They were at times awkward and sweet and hot.

This story took less than 2 hours to read and in the end I would have loved a longer story but this was still a good read. Cardeno C is quickly becoming one of my favourite M/M authors. I look forward to reading more of her work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice but too short 7 October 2015

I've liked a number of Cardeno C's stories but this one didn't cut it. Jared was character I liked and was shown as a shy guy, a loner, who thought he was undesirable because of scars. Lucas character wasn't believable at all. He went from a bratty, overprivileged, city-boy snob, to a sweet, thoughtful young man, practically overnight. I know they were supposed to have known each other for a while. But Lucas seemed to know almost nothing about him, in fact barely knew how his own father thought of him. Just didn't make a lot of sense. Not one I'll read again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing full-bodied story of love !! 14 March 2016
By D.Hart, RCIS - Published on Amazon.com

We get exactly what we want, strong characters, a low angst tale, and erotic sex ! We are back in Hope, where the people are awesome. Jared, 32, scarred ginger, 6'5" of beefy green-eyed hunk, runs his farm. Lucas is a bad boy/man, who thinks there are no consequences to his actions, until now. Lucas is 24, tan, brown hair, blue eyes, polished and sleek. His father runs large businesses and sends him to work for Jared for a new lease on life. They are each reluctant for the work relationship, because unknowingly, each man has crushed on the other for many years. This isn't a typical M/M romance. It's different. Of course there are emotions, internal struggles, and needs that must be sorted out. Both men lost their Moms when young. As Jared shares his story of how the town of Hope finished raising him, Lucas and I both got tears.
Beautifully written by Cardeno C. with amazing lifelike characters, a riveting tale and erotic sexiness.
I haven't read a book by this author that I didn't love.
Highly recommended. ENJOY !!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy Start to New Series 15 September 2014
By Bo - Published on Amazon.com

This one took a little time to get going because the two characters, though fairly described in terms of personality and appearance, seem to be completely incompatible from the get-go. Jared is too repressed, too introspective, too scared. Lucas is too open, too nasty, too selfish.

Then, like a light switch turned on, there comes a gut-wrenching and then tender romance which makes you wonder how it happened all of a sudden.

But it happens.

First in a series which takes place in a small town in Arizona. I would like to read more about them in sequels as well as more about another character who pops in along the way in this one. (No spoilers)..
4.0 out of 5 stars B rating for the audiobook... 25 January 2015

My Review:
Overall.... 3.5
Performance... 3.5
Story.... 3.75

This was a sweet little audiobook and I really enjoyed it. I especially like that it was under 3 hours so it wasn't a huge time commitment, although it still felt like a fairly complete story.

Lucas is a guy floundering. He's a trust-fund baby and as a result is a bit spoiled and self-indulgent. His father is a huge restaurant mogul who's very goal-driven and doesn't quite understand his son. But when Lucas seduces the flag-ship restaurant's chef...in the kitchen...that's the final straw for Lucas' father and he sends him to Jared.

Jared is a rough, big farmer. He was married to Lucas' sister until they both agreed that although they loved one another, Jared was gay and their's wasn't any great passion for the long haul. They work better as best friends.

What neither of these guys realize is that they've both been harboring a secret attraction for each other over the years. But they have to work through all those boundaries they've developed before they even have a chance with one another.

Like I said, I enjoyed this one. While I would have liked it to have just a bit more depth, that's part of the price for having that short time commitment which I loved. Overall, I was happy with it though. I liked the foodie element to the story and liked how opposite the guys are. I love Jared's relationship with his ex-wife and really wish I could have seen her reaction to the guys' new status together.

This is the first in a new series and I liked it. I can't wait to see what else Cardeno C. plans to do with the books.
4.0 out of 5 stars I just keep getting addicted to Cardeno C's Books! 16 September 2014

4 1/2 stars!

There are many different love stories

Some are short.

Some are fun.

Some make you cry.

Some make you smile.

Some make you bang your head againts the wall.

And some, are undeniably sooooooo good you end up with a book hangover the size of the empire state building.

McFarland's Farm did that to me.

Now; if you ask me if this was EPIC?

I would actually call the PERFECT dose of romance and heartbreaking revelations that one as a bookworm deserves. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

You may be asking yourself what is so sweet and mushy and perfect about it. I WON'T SPOIL IT FOR YOU, but I will tell you this: Jared McFarland is one lucky guy.

Just to be clear though: I really wouldn't live in AZ.

Have you ever been there? I don't even like to go to Palm Springs cause it's too hot, now image Palm Springs + 20 degrees. THAT's the 411 of the state of Arizona. Jared McFarland seems to love it and has made a wonderful living in his farm, and that's exactly where he falls for bad boy rebel Lucas Reika.

Nope. No Arizona for me. Apparently Lucas is not too fond of the heat and farmland either, but he copes, and against all odds he ends up liking the little town of Hope, AZ so much that he changes his L.A city life for the peace and quietness of Jared's farm, as a mandatory request from his dad. He doesn't want to be there, but he has no choice.

Many things happen and it's not really easy for Lucas to get to that point where he actually WANTS to stay and give Hope a try. Neither it was for Jared, who really finds himself in the greatest predicament of his life when Lucas (unexpectedly and really last minute) arrives on that afternoon bus from Los Angeles sent as a punishment by his father.

What I loved most about this story was how each character acted and reacted. Straightforward. To the point. No BS. I think short stories like this (though not my first choice in reading) saves us a lot of possible hiccups on our way to find the ultimate HEA.

As i said, I'm not spoiling it. You need to check ur fastest ebook store online and DOWNLOAD THIS ASAP. Honestly, nothing Cardeno C writes can steer you wrong <3

Cheers to you CC, for another hit out of the ballpark <3
