4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars because it was a tad too short 28 March 2015

I enjoyed the previous one in this series and decided to go for this one, too. No regrets.

Max is a bit unusual protector. He is not tall and rugged as they often are described. No, he is looking much younger than his age and is actually not as high as his client. He seems to accept things as they come - his father's untimely death, his growing up inside the "system", his discharge because of his injury - but it's more about protecting himself, I believe.

Prince Lucien, fortunately for him not the eldest of the sons of his family, is attending a UK university incognito. He is actually a lonely person. In his home country because of his position, in UK it's more complicated - he is scared of his stalker, worried about what would happen if his co-students found out about his society status and not wanting to be obliged to accept a bodyguard into his low-key life.

The attraction is there from the very beginning and the 24/7 life brings them even closer. The danger seems to follow Lucien, touching others, but actually never him. What kind of game is the stalker playing? It gets nicely wrapped up and the two men seem to head towards a HEA.

And I, too, would like a solution for Kyle and Ross, please. And a update for those others!?
4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Do That With Your Client...OK, Maybe You Can 27 July 2016

A bodyguard who is not all that big, and who looks about the same age as his his taller, six-years-younger client, Max is sent to protect Lucien, the Prince of an obscure European duchy (or something like that because it's never disclosed). The two approach each other carefully, feel each other out (but not up), get to know a lot about each other, but fail to come up with any solid leads into who has been stalking, and threatening, Lucien's life.

When Max acquiesces to Lucien's desire to be called Luke (who's the man on the cover), his persona at the University of Cardiff in Wales where this takes place, and when Max surprises Luke with how well he can swim so he can worm his way onto the uni's swim team in order to stay close to Luke, things start to warm up between two basically reserved characters. Each of them has issues with their circumstances and their sex lives (non existent for gay Luke, haphazard and non committal for Max). Still, they grow closer and fonder, and the romance is in bloom.

What is not in bloom, however, are very many clues as to who is actually stalking Luke. Indeed, the story is much more about their love affair than it is about Luke's safety, although things do happen to put that safety in question. That it is Luke who picks up a clue as to who is the stalker says more about what he has steadfastly refused to consider though it had become obvious to this reader, at least, well before the explosive climax.

Nice slot in the series, on to the next one eventually.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Gay Prince and the Gay Bodyguard fall in love and solve a murderous mystery 31 March 2015
By Richard F. Casson - Published on

As usual, RJ Scott has written another novella that is delightful, mysterious and sexy. Max, who is a bodyguard working for Bodyguards, Inc is assigned to protect a prince from an unrevealed country but is attending Cardiff University in the UK. Max, who is 28 and a military veteran, looks to be only 20 years old so he is perfect for this job. The prince, Lucien (or Luke) has been receiving notes both at home and in the UK that appear to be threatening his life. While not taken seriously initially, when a dead body of someone close to Luke shows up in his home country, Max is hired to protect him by attending university with him as his gay lover. Since both the prince and Max are gay, it makes Max's cover quite easy to carry out. Of course, despite several attacks on people close to Luke, Max and Luke fall in love and engage in some super hot sex made even more interesting by the fact that Luke is a virgin. This book, like almost every one written by RJ, is wonderfully written and a joy to read. Buy it, read it and indulge in its intriguing and sometimes humorous plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great as always 13 September 2015

This third book in the Bodyguard series, is just as amazing as the two first.

Max is the bodyguard assigned to Prince Lucien (Luke at the school and on the swin team), that get strange notes from a Stalker.
No one knows who would stalk him and no one should know whom he is.

But Max knows the Prince and know that he is falling for him - hard and fast.
Luke being somewhat innocent and shy, feel a great connection to the Bodyguard and friend and things progress.
But the Stalker is near.....

I had my eye on a potentiel Stalker - I will not tell you whom, because I was wrong ;) and I want you all to read the book and find out yourself. And read the wonderful story that is another amazing book from Ms. R.J. Scott.

4.0 out of 5 stars I have enjoyed the Body Guards series 2 November 2015

I have enjoyed the Body Guards series. The plot of this story was a little farfetched for me; the ending was a bit of a surprise. The relationship between Max the bodyguard and Prince Lucien was at time a bit volatile for my taste. For a while I was not sure what to make of the character of the prince. Max was very stable and yet not forceful. Unlike the other body guards in the other stories, Max was not six foot four! I did like the way this story paved the introduction to the next towards the end, introducing next plot by a phone call and further developed the relationship between Kyle and Ross and their upcoming story. I enjoyed reading this, even though parts of it were a bit unrealistically stretched.
