5.0 out of 5 stars erotic/romantic novella with paranormals and lovers kept apart 6 March 2014

"Mating Behavior" is an erotic and happier spin on Romeo and Juliet. He and she have known each other for about 6 months, and have progressed into a close friendship. The story takes place on a camping trip, with their growing relationship related in a series of memories and flashbacks. In their world, paranormals are not allowed to date/marry ordinary humans, and each believes the other an ordinary human. Despite this, their attraction has been steadily building. The close proximity of the camping trip forces their attraction into the forefront, as do some unexpected dangers involving unfriendly werewolves.

The attraction was believable, the personalities fun, and I liked that the opponents weren't stereotypical evil.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great Short about finding love and not always seeing what should be right in front of you! 26 June 2015

Alan and Katie have been friends for years; both secretly love the other but feel they can not reveal their true selves because they feel the other is human and therefore forbidden. It takes a camping trip and werewolf treat to bring out their secrets and then the sparks fly! I love these characters, both are outsiders in the supernatural world, both preferring to embrace the more human side of themselves and they do it so well neither guessed the other was anything but human! Bad communication skills but lovable all the same. Highly recommend it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars the smallest ow which is that they are in love with each other 26 July 2015

Alan and Katie both have secrets, the smallest ow which is that they are in love with each other. But as a shifter, Alan can't mate a human so he is forced to hide a major part of himself from the woman he considers his best friend. Katie a witch. And she too is forbidden from allowing anyone not of the para world know about her skills. Ms. Roth gave us a story of two star crossed lovers. And while the story was technically well written, I did not connect with either Alan or Katie. Their chemistry felt forced. Alan didn't come off as particularly alpha and as the story progressed i less than impressed with him. Katie was a little better, but not by much. I generally enjoy Ms. Roth's stories. And while I have read worse, I can honestly say this not one of my favorites by her. This story was a quick read with potential.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mating Behavior :by Mandy M. Roth 26 February 2014

I was disappointed that this was not attached to the Immortal Ops, in any way, yet that was the only disappointment about the purchase of this book. I actually ended up quite pleased with the storyline, after my initial feelings, as stated earlier. This was typical of what her previous stories left me expecting. You expect great works from her and she doesn't fail to provide them. Worth the cost of the book, and the time spent reading it. Her name is a name I readily purchase, without fear of it being a dud. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

3.0 out of 5 stars magik maybe 12 February 2015

This was not a bad erotic/romance shifter novella. The characters were likable and there were some spots in the book that were humorous but I think with a little more work this could be a really good book. The over all story line kind of fell flat and some parts seemed strained and rushed. The only thing that saved the book was how likable Alan and Katie were.
