Aussie farm girl Matilda Moore kicks off her dream trip to London by flat-sitting for her childhood friend. But London is daunting, crowded and noisy, and that's before Tilly finds a baby on the doorstep. There's a note attached: "Henry, if you’re reading this, please know the worst has happened.”
Probability expert Henry Church has finally returned home to Wirralong, Australia, to see his grandparents when he gets a phone call from Tilly that breaks every statistical analysis. The probability of him being the father is marginal. Plus, he knows nothing about caring for a baby. Emotions and socializing are even bigger mysteries. He begs Tilly for help—can she cut her holiday short and bring the baby to Wirralong?
Tilly will do almost anything for her childhood best friend, but falling in love with him and his motherless baby is an emphatic no. Out of the question. Or is it?

About the author

I started writing in 2007, with a Harlequin/Mills and Boon story called Wife For A Week. I liked it, readers liked it, and it's still my mother's favorite. With each new book I try to get my mother to change her mind. Awards? I have them (for other books). USA Today Bestseller status? I have that too (for other books). Romance Writers of America® RITA® Finalist? Yep (with other books).
At this point I'm pretty sure my mother is happily messing with *my* mind, but I promise you this--with every book I write I try to make it her new favorite story. Quality control!

MATILDA NEXT DOOR tells the story of a young woman with broken dreams. It feels like sometimes, no one takes her seriously. Some have hurtfully called her Silly Tilly.
With her eye on a prestigious cooking course in London, old family friend and wealthy businessman, Henry Church is doing a swap; coming to Wirralong to visit with the grandparents who brought him up next door , while Tilly goes to London and uses his flat. It's her dream to go to London, see the sights and attend the cooking course.
But as soon as Tilly arrives, things go wrong, what with lost luggage and homesickness. Then an unexpected visitor brings a baby and claims she is Henry's.
Henry has never been able to express his emotions. His stiff upper lip and obsessively folded socks makes him a comic character to Tilly's eye. But Tilly has had a crush on Henry since girlhood. Her dreams of Henry look like staying just that.
Henry has a soft spot for pretty Tilly, but he feels awkward and unlovable. Incidents happening in London mean that he and Tilly are on regular video calls. Then, he receives a shocking call from her, regarding a mystery baby.
Suddenly Tilly's plans in London come undone. Meantime, Henry's grandmother takes ill and he has to stay with her. It's going to mean Tilly coming back home and bringing the baby with her.
It's another heart warming love story in the Wirralong Series.
Matilda (Tilly) Moore has never stepped out of Wirralong even though she dreams of travelling the world She runs a small bakery in the town and is the sort who cares for local people She has been caring for her childhood friends grandparents but now he has returned and has offered her a dream holiday staying at his London home. Tilly crushed on Henry Church when they where younger but he couldn't wait to get out of Wirralong. Can something build between them now that they have reconnected You will have to read to see
I was given a copy opf this book but this is a true and honest review
Tilly has loved Henry Church, grandson of her neighbours Joe and Bethany Church since she was a teenager. Henry has always held himself apart from other people because of his early childhood. A mother who didn’t love him, no father and eventually a move to Wirralong to be raised by his grandparents who are also less than welcoming has shaped him, but Tilly has always seen below the surface, “Once cracked, with his gooey soft centre on show, Henry Church could make her feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
Henry left Wirralong as soon as he could with barely a backward glance. Brilliant, supremely organised, financially very secure, and with a life in London, Henry is thrown right off his game while visiting his grandparents in Australia when Tilly, who’s house-sitting his London flat, informs him that he has a baby daughter he knew nothing about.
This story is packed with tongue in cheek humour, which at times had me quietly chuckling and at others roaring with laughter but it’s also tender and utterly endearing. Absolutely one for my keeper shelf.
