Product Description

Wingman rule number two: never reveal how much you want them.

Lex hates Gabi. Gabi hates Lex. But, hey, at least the hate is mutual, right? All Lex has to do is survive the next few weeks training Gabi in all the ways of Wingmen Inc. and then he can be done with her. But now that they have to work together, the sexual tension and fighting is off the charts. He isn’t sure if he wants to strangle her or throw her against the nearest sturdy table and have his way with her.

But Gabi has a secret, something she’s keeping from not just her best friend but her nemesis too. Lines are blurred as Lex becomes less the villain she’s always painted him to be…and starts turning into something more. Gabi has always hated the way she’s been just a little bit attracted to him—no computer-science major should have that nice of a body or look that good in glasses—but “Lex Luthor” is an evil womanizer. He’s dangerous. Gabi should stay far, far away.

Then again, she’s always wanted a little danger.

If you love rom coms you'll enjoy this one. Love Rachel van dyken books, her stories suck you in from the start and leave you with a massive -and well deserved - book hangover. The animations in the book are simply amazing, what a great new way to read a book. If you like a good and funny romance then this one's for you.

Lex and Gabi's weird relationship dynamic has intrigued me since reading the first novel, The Matchmaker's Playbook. So, as you can imagine, I was pretty thrilled when I discovered that the next installment in the Wingmen Inc. series would be all about them.

I'm pretty sure I'm in love with Lex - sans his man-whoring ways (of course).

I mean, it's not often that you find a man that has awesome programming skills, is easy on the eyes, has a kind heart, and has a decent amount of intelligent thought going on between the ears. As I'm minoring in computer science, I feel that I am quite the reliable source on this one, when I tell you that he is a very rare breed. (Can he just be real so I can have him?) He's also kind of ridiculous at times - but in a really good way. One of my favourite parts in the novel is a scene when he messages Ian, What girls eat? Just so adorably ridiculous.

His and Gabi's relationship is so entertaining to read, with lost of creative pranks and insults, all with the underlining sexual tension. I loved it! I found myself laughing at one thing or another in every chapter, though my favourite were in Lex's POV and his thought process is totally over the top most of the time.

There is this underlining running theme throughout the novel of the importance of family and what we are willing to do for them; sacrificing money, food, love. It's a beautiful message that is a nice change from the usual lust and 'claiming' someone as yours.

The Matchmaker's Replacement is a thoroughly entertaining read that's a laugh a minute while also sending your emotions on one hell of a rollercoaster ride. It's a book that I highly recommend.

After reading The Matchmaker's Playbook I was so relieved the next book was going to be about Lex and Gabi. The banter between these two was amazing! The sexual tension between them was so well written and the pranks they played had me in stitches! I loved how Ian still played an important part in their relationship without being invasive. His relationship with Lex and Gabi was beautiful and I was so sad to have finished. I will definitely be re-reading this series a lot!

Lex has always been the smartest guy in the room, and not surprisingly, apart from his best friend from childhood, Ian, his relationships with other people are typically ... shallow. When you're smart enough to figure out what angle people are working before they even approach you, becoming jaded is almost a foregone conclusion.

If you've read the first book in the series, The Matchmakers Playbook, which focuses on Ian, or if you've read the blurb of this book, you'll be aware of one thing. Lex hates Gabi and Gabi hates Lex, but of course, things are rarely that simple.

The complication is that Gabi is Ian's other best friend, almost like a sister, and just like a good sibling Ian is very protective of her, wanting her to wind up with a good solid, respectable and dependably guy. Someone entirely unlike Lex.

No matter how much he might be attracted to her, for Lex to even entertain the notion of any kind of relationship with Gabi would almost certainly put Lex's one meaningful friendship to the ultimate test, and so, for years he's pushed her buttons in an effort to push her away.

Now, just to complicate things, Ian is pushing them together, in a purely professional manner, hiring Gabi to work for the matchmaking firm he and Lex run together, and things get very complicated.

Written from dual points of view, The Matchmaker's Replacement showcases Rachel Van Dyken's wry sense of humor at its very best as the awkward and the angst get cranked up more and more as the chapters roll by.

The chemistry and the tension between Lex and Gabi is off the charts, and woven throughout is the mystery as to why Gabi is so desperately short of funds that she needs the job in the first place.

I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and couldn't put it down.

I loved, loved, loved this book. The banter between Lex and Gabi had me grinning the whole way through.
Lex and Gabi are frenemies. They are sometimes friends but more often enemies. But do they really hate each other?
I love how Ian is like their mother trying to keep the peace between the two of them and making sure there aren't any sharp objects around when he leaves them alone.
Great to catch up with Blake and Ian from The Matchmaker's Playbook, too.
