5.0 out of 5 starsThe story of a major player of Pern

From the time of their first publishing the Dragon books, although not really well written, have enchanted me. When I am feeling in the need of familiarity I reach for them and happily return to the planet Pern where dragons breathe fire to save it, and humans bond with them. It is a marvellous concept of bravery and love as well as dealing with all to human failings. So now I am buying my favourites on Kindle, and meeting up again this time with the Harpers and their legacy. Even my classically inclined husband would swipe the books from my shelves and immerse himself with pleasure in these tales, so they can't be too bad! Beware poor imitations.
5.0 out of 5 starsLoved this series since it first came out

Of course it doesn't date as it's set in a created universe and vaguely understandable society. It's brilliantly conceived, written and researched. I cannot recommend reading the series highly enough, and feel sad for anyone who has missed it so far :)
5.0 out of 5 starsThis book pulled me back into the world of Pern ...

This book pulled me back into the world of Pern where I have not walked for a while. I had to go back then to Dragon Flight to trace the rest of the story through. This book provides additional insights into how events come to pass in Lessa and Flar's time providing a strong back story. All I need now as I finish the "Skies of Pern" is the long awaited "After the fall" I hope that it eventually gets finished so the story lines too get drawn to the close.
