Product Description

Welcome to the shadow world of Blood Courtesans…where vampires are real and blood is a financial asset. This is the world I live in.

Being the baby sister in a family chock-full of slayers isn’t easy. My entire life, I’ve watched my brothers venture out into the darkness to hunt the things that prey on the innocent. Vampires are evil, they tell me, but they refuse to let me fight.

Now, my best friend’s life is in danger. She’s racked up quite the debt, and the vampire she owes has come to collect. To save her, I need to go undercover as a blood courtesan and sell myself to the highest bidder.

Enter Ethen Rune, an uncompromising bastard with a penchant for, well…me. My family says I shouldn’t trust vampires, that they would drain me dry rather than look at me. But to save Tessa, I need his money. I never expected to fall in love with him…

…Or to become a monster myself.

Your scent, your voice, your blood… I find everything about you captivating. *swooooon* "If I was about to enter the shadow world of vampires and blood courtesans, then, yes, I wanted the whole story." YES! YES! YES! ahem Yes, please Gwen, tell me WHOLE story!! What I wouldn't give to be a Blood Courtesan!! *dreamy sigh* HOLY CRICKETS!! Now THIS is one BLOODY FANGTACULAR & VAMPIREIFIC book!! I ABSO-FANG-LUTELY love, Love, LOVE this book! I love EVERYTHING about it!! Every little drop of it - the storylines & plots, the characters, the humor, the heat, the good, the bad, the ugly, the love for friends & family, the outcome of it all, but especially *dreamy sigh* Ethen. There is so much I could say about it, but I don't want to accidentally let slip a spoiler or 3! Besides I am sure you would much rather read this VAMPIRELICIOUS story than my review!! I know I would! Oh wait! I already did! TWICE!! I was so instantly & deeply enthralled!! In fact, I still am even after reading it for the second time!! When I’m reading, I always highlight possible lines to use to open my review, as well as make notes for various reasons, like key parts to remember, for example. I highlighted so many parts by the time I was halfway through, it was crazy! But I did it for one reason & one reason only - this book has me sunk so deep into it, I not only feel like I am living it as Winter, but that I AM Winter and Gwen is telling readers everywhere how I met Ethen, my Vampire Mate!! “The only mouth on you tonight will be mine.” And why the hell does that turn me on?” Oh Winter, trust me! You are NOT the only one! Ethen says possessive things and I get weak in the knees, feel it deep inside me, he growls and it turns me on.Read more ›

Sometimes a series hits you out of the blue and this "The Blood Courtesan" series is fantastic!

Amelia "Winter" is the only girl in a family of vampire slayers. When she walks in on her friend being attacked by a vampire she attacks and eventually finds out that her friend has been living a double life and is seriously in debt to a vampire. Desperate to help she agrees to not inform her family and instead applies to become a blood courtesan . Her first appearance is at a gala auction where she is won by Ethen Rune.

Ethen Rune is a vampire alone. After being betrayed by a former human lover he has preferred his own company and those of a very few selected humans. His reputation is fierce and he likes it that way. When he sees "Winter" at the Gala he is immediately attracted, and is tempted in a way he has not been in a long time.

Winter and Ethen just "click". They are a fantastic couple, and I really enjoyed their cynical interaction - Winter biased by her family and Ethen by the betrayal of a loved one.

The writing was enthralling and it is very easy to get caught up in the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and am glad to provide an honest review for an arc.

Marked by Gwen Knight and Michelle Fox is part of the blood courtesan series.

Amelia Winter is the baby sister and only daughter in a family of vampire slayers and has been taught that vampires are evil and prey on the innocent, and refuse to let her fight. But now her best friend's life is in danger as she struggles to pay a debt owed to a very ruthless vampire, and he has come to collect. In order to save her, she agrees to become a blood courtesan, selling herself to the highest bidder for a large payout, enough to clear the debt.

Enter Ethen Rune, an uncompromising vampire and bastard to boot and has his keen eye on Winter. She was always taught to never trust vampires but his money is the only thing that can save her friends life and protect her own. She never expected to fall for him or endanger her own life by doing so.

Marked has very different characters to the previous instalment of the blood courtesan series but I am getting more of a feel for the vampire society now that I am 2 books in.

I as glad to see the male protagonist described as not "devastatingly handsome" for a change and that his other attributes make him attractive to Winter. And winter was such a wonderfully strong, independent and capable character to read.

Even though this book is rather a short read, there is so much happening and going on during the story that it invert entertaining and I don't believe the story suffered in any way due to duration.

The chances of Winter becoming a Blood Courtesan were about one in a million that is until she learned that her best friend Tessa more like a sister owed a substantial amount of money to a vicious powerful vampire. Coming from a family of vampire slayers, her dad would most likely disown her and never look back if he got wind of what she was doing. Her assignment is a Charity Gala where the Blood Courtesans are auctioned off to the highest bidder. Ethen Rune exudes power, lives alone preferring the solitude in his billionaire mansion, is feared, even the Blood Courtesans fear him, his reason not to indulge. This night he is attending the Charity Gala for the purpose of business. Upon meeting Winter, Ethen finds her quick wit and beauty most intriguing. Going against his well-known behavior he bids on her and wins. Winter is pleased that he won her and wonders how she can be so captivated by him. Horrific danger lurks in the shadows and is coming after Winter with a vengeance.

WOW/INCREDIBLY fascinating fast paced well written imaginative read by two truly gifted authors. As the reader, you are lured into a story that keeps you hooked with the intriguing plot, witty banter, gripping suspense, spine-chilling danger, action, a cast of credible engaging characters, and of course toe curling sensual romance. Winter’s protective instincts and love for who she cares for make her a force to reckoned with; Ethen is certainly powerful but Winter’s presence tames him a bit, together they make this story shine like a beacon. I absolutely relished this story, a most memorable read. If you treasure vampire romance this is certainly a must-have for your library. {I was gifted this book and this is my honest review}. In fantasy romance, the possibilities are endless but always fascinating.
