I bought this for a class, but kept it for myself.
It has everything you need to pass your A+ test. It's well written and easy to understand. It may have been because I was in a class that helped, but I am not extremely knowledgeable, and I believe that this book is written in a way for anyone with a little bit of computer knowledge could learn enough to take the exam and pass.
I will let you know when I'm able to review the book enough to take the test - whether I pass or not. I have decided to delay only because I don't feel I gave the book the attention I needed and I want to go back and read it through again without the extra responsability of being in a class at the same time. It is written clearly enough, I think I am going to gain more out of it putting my full focus on the book lessons.

WAS as Good Book

This book is copy righted 2008. That would imply that it is current, at least through Windows Vista. Unfortunately this is not the case. While the copyright may have been refreshed recently, the information and pictures have not. I think it is okay at this point to limit the discussion of DOS to a chapter, or where necessary. The same probably goes for most of the Windows 98 stuff. The future release of Windows Vista is mentioned. The existence of a 64 bit version of XP Professional is acknowledged, but mostly ignored because 64 bit software is way too futuristic for this book. In 2004, when this book was written, it was great. There is a lot of information about what things are on the A+ exam, but I don't know how up to date that info is either. On the bright side the book is an easy read, very well laid out and well illustrated. I hope Jean Andrews will get around to updating this book, if she does it will be great resource and great textbook. But 5 years is a long time to wait.

This book was in exactly the condition that the seller said it was in. It had a few scratches on it and a (very) small amount of highlighting in it, but other than that it was in great condition. The seller mentioned that the CD was unopened in the back of the book, and that was the case. It arrived about a week after I ordered it, not counting the Christmas and New Year's Holiday in there.
As far as the actual product goes, it probably contains every word and phrase ever uttered that has anything to do with modern computers. 1347 pages counting the index, 2 inches thick, about a 10 font, I would guess this book weighs about 7 pounds, so it's big and contains a mountain of information.
