Lois has mastered the model of mixing practical strategies with personal experience and all of that makes it really easy to read.
The book is focussed on the future - what people can do and need to do for the future - it's not talking about strategies that are "old hat" or "last year" - it talks about how things have changed and are continuing to change and how to manage and deal with those changes.
I highly recommend this great book!
Written by an expert that clearly knows her field, this book is more than a guide to give you the ‘know how’ to ‘make your move’, it will inspire you to do so now! If you’ve ever felt ‘stuck’ in your career, or know someone that is, then do yourself a favour – read this book!

One of my favorite takeaways was asking the two questions, "What's in here?" (pointing to self) and "What's out there?" (pointing to the world market). I would recommend this book to anyone looking to change careers or find more freelance work.

This is much more than just another job-seeking book, however, and although it does have a lot of excellent advice to help you secure the job you desire, Lois focuses first on helping you to identify the right career for you, one which will be most fulfilling based on your values, interests, needs, skills, and personal preferences. She then moves into helping you to secure that career, knowing that the old ways of working have changed, no longer do people necessarily have a career for life (although they are clearly much more likely to find a career they are happy and satisfied with if they take Lois's advice).
The book includes practical checklists for resumes and guidelines for writing cover letters and addressing selection criteria, as well as getting the job via job interviews, how to prepare and how to ensure that you address the selection criteria. Also includes advice on freelancing, contracting and other modes of work with practical advice on how to market yourself and your services. Throughout, there are several helpful case studies and inspiring stories of success from her clients.
There are also useful guidelines for networking, including how to prepare for success, and the encouragement to be open to serendipitous meetings and tips for how to take advantage of chance encounters. It also offers crucial advice on how to develop your confidence. The focus throughout is on getting you into action and helping you to "Make your move!" I recommend this book very highly and I know that if anyone can help you to get the right career for you, Lois can.

This book is your very own career adviser, therapist and support team. Take the worry, stress and second guessing out of the process, and make your next career transition painless and smooth.
