Same book you've read 5 times already
Reviewed in the United States on 30 December 2018Verified Purchase
If you like stories about pushy broads who save a man whether he wants it or not under the guise of I know what's best for you, you will like this book. I really enjoy this author normally, but there was absolutely no twists or surprises in this story. It was the very same formula of any other book you read in this genre. Man racked by guilt for something that he was of course not responsible for, Little Miss Sunshine comes along and is going to save him from his barren life (and I agree, I thought she was a little too interested in his very nice house and property) and "Scrooge" does a one-eighty on Christmas. Now here comes a big spoiler alert--He kicks her out of his house, she lets her daughter believe it's all her doing and then she goes back to him under the "I need to fight for him" banner. The least that could have happened is he had to go after her, but then they couldn't have Christmas in his wonderful house. The only reason I didn't totally diss this book is because she is an author who knows how to write a scene and use correct grammar which appears to be a lost art these days. If you haven't read too many of these sappy style books or love them, you will like this one.

Christmas romance for the recluse
Reviewed in the United States on 7 November 2019Verified Purchase
I love stories about a recluse! The beautiful young woman and her five year old daughter are a surprise for this grieving recluse while filling in while her friend takes a yearly vacation. She forces him to face his past and possibly fall in love again if he can get past his loss. This has the added bonus of being set during the magic of Christmastime!

There is Just Something Special About a Maureen Child Romance
Reviewed in the United States on 14 December 2016Verified Purchase
A reclusive rich artist gives his housekeeper a month off every year at Christmas 🎄 time; the housekeeper always hires a replacement to cook and clean for him. This year she hires someone young, beautiful, and caring with a precocious, adorable 5 years old daughter. You would think he'd be toast, but he seems to like being a cranky loner!
There is something unique and charming about the personalities of the characters; their dialogue is quirky, funny, and often tender. The storyline is not totally predictable; there are surprises. When you want to feel warm and fuzzy, grab this quick wonderful read!

Rude obnoxious heroine is no "Joy"
Reviewed in the United States on 5 March 2017Verified Purchase
Joy was so obnoxious I simply stopped reading. Had she talked to me like she does Sam, I'd have her forcibly removed by the police. She marches in and insists on staying because it's convenient for her. On her first night there when he hasn't decided he will let her be his live in housekeeper for a month, she tells him when dinner will be and then waits for him to show. He stays out in his workshop and returns late which apparently angers her. She insists on him eating the dinner she prepared and chastises him for not eating at the time she said dinner would be. Is this supposed to be attractive? What a controlling, unbelievable witch. Let's face it, that would get you fired on your first day. He meekly sits and eats and she basically continues with the harping and insulting. Who does that in someone else's house and their employer to boot? Had she talked to me in my home in that manner, she would have been thrown out that very night. When he says she can stay, she lets him know she wasn't leaving. I simply could not read any more dialogue from such a rude, pushy woman. Too bad I didn't start this as soon as I bought it. It's too late to return for a refund, but it's not too late to delete! Save your money and pass on this dreadful book.
