This is a great book. Gripping, adventurous and full of action. Rick Riordan never bores me. I can't wait for the next one. You should definitely read it.

As this title explains yet another great read from rick Riordan. I am still only at the beginning of the journey having only read this and the first magnus chase book. I have seen the films of Percy Jackson and want to catch up on the other Greek books that weren't made into films. I'll then devour his other series on Egyptian mythology. I can't really say much more about this author but to buy his books. I initially hesitated because I was of the assumption that they were for kids which I now know to be false at least going by the first two books I've read.

Liked this one less than the first novel solely because of the often predictable jokes that the main character makes, they were funny in the first book but in this book they get old fast. Each time they come out of or are in the middle of some weird situation you are just waiting for that same old predictable joke to come. I am also growing to dislike the character Thor, mainly for the same reason again of the jokes involving him becoming repetitive. The jokes aside the story is still good and the and the new character they introduced bring a new reason to be interested in the series.
Having read all of the different series Rick Riordan has written I was expecting a lot coming from this book and that was exactly what I got! The Magnus Chase series is based on a teenage boy living in the modern world, however what most people don't realise is that all of the ancient gods are still alive!
What I love about this book is that the author really gets what goes on inside a teenagers head; with all the sarcasm and humour, and puts that into the book. It also has relelevances to other characters in other books Rick Riordan hs written; such as Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase from the Percy Jackson series.
However, what I love most about this book is that when you read it you get the chance to learn a lot about history as this series is based on Norse mythology so you get to learn about, well, Norse mythology however you never get bored as he mixes it well with humour. My parents often stare at me strangely when I laugh at random times when reading the book! This book deserves 5 stars as I simply could not put it down!

Excellent YA book, given as a Christmas gift to my 20 year old son, and he loves this author! He read it within a few days and reported back that, quote, 'make sure you give this book 5 stars, and you can pre-order the next one for my birthday please', so I'm guessing it went down a storm!
