As I said before... I love the premise of this series. Book Two is much less formulaic than Book One. Which is a big relief. And I have to give the writer credit for creating a thoroughly unlikable protagonist ... I can't stand her.
Echo is a spoiled rotten, childish, thorough pain in the ass. That takes talent and imagination on the writers part to bring up that level of emotion in a reader. At one point I actually had to close the book and walk away because that girl had me so very frustrated.
So I'm going to recommend this series with the caveat that Book One is a bit tedious. But the research into the subject matter is good and the gist of the history is solid.
Will I read the next installment? Probably. I want to see if Echo can be redeemed as a human being.
