1.0 out of 5 stars The magic is missing! 22 September 2012

This was a really disappointing book.

The authors say that they will provide useful information, even "secrets" on how to create a business out of selling products on eBay, but they simply don't do that. They continue to say throughout, that they are about to show you how to do different things, but they never do.

Instead, they continually refer to their "training program" that the reader can subscribe to, where they say they will teach you all the secrets that made them successful on eBay. The book is simply used as a sales tool for their course, and provides very little useful information in it's own right. I have no problem with business people who use their publishing endeavors as a way to promote other service offerings, provided they are actually providing some solid useful content in the book as well, and ensuring that it at least tries to deliver on what it promises to.

Here, the authors seem to be so focused on selling the reader on their course, that they forgot to provide anything of real use in their book. Unfortunately, at least in my case, the fact that the book failed so badly to live up to its promise, left me feeling that I'd been ripped off for the purchase price, and there was no way that I would be tempted to ante up for the $3,000 plus that their course costs. if they couldn't offer more value in the book, it is hard to see how the course would not be full of more of the same empty promises. I didn't really need to look too far in google searches for the authors to find some reviews from people who had subscribed to their course, which confirmed that judgement. Perhaps these people just didn't like the course either, but the book was certainly a let down for me.

I got far more value from reading Extreme eBay How to Quickly Apply ---- by Greg Perry. From memory it was a cheaper book to purchase, and provides solid useful suggestions for improving your eBay sales throughout. And the author is not selling any type of course, or other product, that you have to purchase to find out what they said they would tell you in the book, so they are providing the benefit in the book that you purchase. this is only the second book on eBay selling that I have read so far, so I'm no expert on eBay books, but it was far better than "The magic of making money on eBay", so for anyone looking to get useful information on eBay from a book, I would try other books before this one.

If you really decide that you want to find out what the authors of "The magic of making money on eBay" can teach you, skip the book and put those $ towards buying their course, because they don't tell you anything in the book, that anyone who has even sold a few items on eBay wouldn't know. But I would say, beware of the hype.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Useful At All 2 September 2013
By Jill Tozer - Published on Amazon.com

This book promised to reveal the secrets of how to make money on eBay, but was more of an advertisement for the course that the authors also offer. All the way through they kept saying that they were only scratching the surface, and that it takes a full three days to go through it all comprehensively on their course ( nearly $4000 worth). The information that they did provide was all very basic stuff, and certainly not worth the $10 price tag!! I don't want to pay $10 for an advertisement to try and make me spend $4000 before I know the answers which I thought ( from the description) were in the book!! They said to go to their website and get the free report and DVD, so I thought maybe there would be something of value in that, so signed up. But then received a rah rah email saying that they may need to contact me for a "Strategy session" to make sure the send out the right information pack. I'm sure that is another excuse to market their expensive course! Total rip off. Do not buy.
