I won't be buying another Maglite. Before I purchased this piece of rubbish, I was under the impression that Maglite had an excellent reputation and backed it up with an equally excellent warranty. After owning the Solitaire for some time with almost no use, I took it out in preparation for a long distance walk only to discover that the light no longer functions correctly. It appears to have a loose connection somewhere. Having looked into the possibility of returning the torch for repair/replacement, I am dismayed to see that it is anything but simple, with various clauses and conditions. Absolute waste of money. Could have picked up a better torch from Poundland.

For me, an ideal keyring sized torch that can certainly do it's job in most basic conditions despite it's small size. The LED lighting has significantly improved light power over the older bulb type Maglite that it is finally replacing. My old Maglite gave good service for a number of years until the recent failure caused by battery leakage inside the casing and since the LED is more durable, I see no reason not to have many years of service from my new torch. Just remember to change the battery regularly

Teeny tiny little torch! I didn't read the specs for this so was surprised when it came but actually it's really handy. My partner is a scout leader and this is actually great for him to keep on his uniform trousers for situations that require a torch. The light is REALLY bright, so bright if you put it behind your finger you can see the blood vessels (yes we did try it!!) Presentation case is very nice and good for keeping it all together, and it's pocket sized which is helpful.
If you want a tiny little torch, maybe to keep in your bag or coat pocket for when you can't find your keys or other situations in the dark then this is the torch for you!

A worthy and much brighter successor to a classic

Many years ago, I had an old incandescent of this maglite keyring. The bulb eventually died, I never got around to replacing it and eventually lost it.

This LED version feels every bit as well made as the old original with one major difference; The light output of this newer LED version is outstanding! The old one was always useful here and there but you'd bever rely on it to light your way on a dark path. This one, however, gives a bright and brilliant white light. The old Maglite feature focussing the beam is still there, the light is just brighter.

At £9.99, this is well worth every penny and far suerior to any other keyring LED torches I have seen. The presentation box adds to the value and feeling of overall quality, and, as ever, the single AAA battery is included.

I was initially delighted with this product, but it proved a little disappointing in the long run. The anodizing started to come off a few months after purchase, which makes it look shabby. Then the battery cap began periodically working itself loose. One one occasion the torch separated from the battery cap (to which the key ring holder is attached) altogether and fell in the street, to be run over by a passing car. Give it credit where credit's due, the torch survived and still works today. Battery life is adequate and beam spread is very good.
Overall, I believe this is not of the quality I have come to expect from Maglite and I doubt it is manufactured in the USA. But hey, while it keeps on working, I won't replace it.
