Really easy to follow and suitable for beginners, as well as those looking for inspiration. Lovely illustrations too. The only thing I would say is, I have found I didn't need to use as much cord as it recommends. To reduce wastage at the end I would recommend using 50cm less on each working cord.
I have loved this book a lot, I've made a few of the projects so far and been very happy with how they all turned out. As a total beginner I did find some of the instructions on certain knots difficult to interpret, but of course it is sometimes difficult to convey practical things on a page. After reading the instructions a few times I managed to figure it out.
On the other hand the instructions for the projects themselves are very easy to follow.
I have found (like one of the other reviewers) that the stated lengths of cord have been too long and I've been left with a lot of leftovers so I have cut the lengths down myself, however this may be a personal thing to do with how tightly I knot.
Overall I would highly recommend this book.
I bought 2 different macrame books in order to learn and found myself referring to the other one for instructions (Macrame for beginners by Amy Mullins,) and this one for patterns.
That being said, I would highly recommend it if you have some knowledge of the basic knots or another book to refer to also. The patterns are lovely and generally use cheaper cord (because it is thinner, most call for around 3mm thick) in comparison to my other book which uses 5mm. It can become an expensive hobby so this does make a big difference.
Decided to purchase this book so as to learn more knots and maybe do some of the projects.
Book is well illustrated and easy to follow as long as you get to know the knots and advance through the book.
Coming from a nautical background I found learning the knots very easy as already knew some of them but by a different name.
I will find this book useful and will probably do a few of the projects in the book.
Would recommend to any one wishing to get a start in macrame.
Ideal and very handy to have when making patterns and projects of your own, just for inspiration or help with certain knots or even when you need a rough idea of what amount of cord to use. In all a fantastic book very well designed. Already asked Santa to bring me Macramé 2 for Christmas haha :)
