I don’t have children. I’m not married. Not that I haven’t wanted these things. It’s just not turned out to be part of my life story. So why would I read a book about the struggle for a couple to grapple with having children and their grief? Because I first heard Rachael tell her story on a Podcast. Her fragile voice told the story of her beautiful girl Kenzie and the tragic “no filter” circumstances around her short life and subsequent children who they had to heartbreakingly send to be with Kenzie too. She got into my heart, into my Psyche so I joined her on IG and Rachael and her hubby Jonny have become a staple in my everyday as I grappled with my own daily issues. Seeing how they live their life with hope and loved lifted me. Then the book came out and I devoured it in 3 days. It is a story so well told and even at times funny. Yes sad, incredibly sad but the staggering feeling I was left with was hope, love, and honouring both these traits with courage to save others from going through what they did, learning how to navigate life through extreme adversity and well how to live and not just exist. Thank you for a truly beautiful
Book. I so look forward to part 2.

Mackenzie's story is so beautifully honest and filled with such love and heartbreak. Her family is nothing short of amazing and the work they are doing for genetic testing and raising awareness of so many pregnancy related issues is phenomenal.

I couldn’t put this book down it felt so real pulling out all the emotions - tears, numbness, joy. You feel Rachael’s journey deeply as she’s written from her heart. I feel so sad for Rachael and Jonny but am so in awe of their strength and determination in paving the way to help others. I wish them love and am grateful for them sharing their story. The chapters on perspective and grief were helpful to me.

Powerful, engaging, honest and movingReviewed in the United States on 3 June 2020
I read this book in 2 days, I couldn’t put it down or stop thinking about it. Rachael is an engaging writer with a really honest style which i loved. I had followed her on Instagram and thought I knew her story but there was so much I didn’t know that I discovered in the book. Yes this book has some absolutely devastating tragic and heartbreaking moments but don’t let that stop you from reading it. It contained many beautiful memories that made me smile and Mackenzies Mission also made me feel inspired. You will learn how to support people in grief, you will learn how to come through trauma and gain a new perspective on life, but most of all you will learn about this beautiful family and bear witness to their story.
